  • Liz Reeves says:

Finally the right advice for mature faces! I gave up wearing makeup 10 years ago because the techniques I had used in my youth no longer worked, but no one was telling me how to fix it. Thank you so much, I can’t wait to apply your tips!

    • fabulous50s says:

Hi Liz Reeves! Thanks so much for watching and have a beautiful week 💕

    • Wisdom Calls says:

I can totally relate to this. I’m only 43 but found what I always did wasn’t working either. It’s very frustrating feeling like you don’t know what you are doing when it used to come to easily. It’s like going through the awkward teenage years all over again but worse. So glad someone is addressing this topic!

    • Michelle Everett says:

@Wisdom Calls So true. What once worked for me (age 41) looks horrible, now, when it comes to eye makeup. Slightly sunken eyes, mild wrinkles, pits under my eyes where others have bags and a general elongated appearance due to gravity have rendered that old routine useless. I hope all this stuff works for you and for me so we can feel comfortable in our makeup again! Schellea has great tips.

    • Raven Salty says:

I did the same thing Liz! Next month my husband and I are going to NYC for our 10th wedding anniversary and I want to look nice when we go out that night. So I went looking for new makeup techniques, I will be 50 this year. I was so happy to come across this video!

  • Tanya Tuttle says:

I learned sooooo much from your video!! Thanks for NOT having a long boring preamble or too much talk between the tips, and getting right down to the nitty gritty – like the current trend with recipes that give a 10,000 word story before the directions! Thank you so much and I can’t wait to apply your techniques as I gear up to celebrate my 60th birthday! PS you are beautiful!

    • fabulous50s says:

Thanks for taking the time to comment Tanya Tuttle Have a great day 🌸

I’ve been looking and looking for how to adjust my eye makeup so that my eyes don’t look like two dark holes…your points about color theory are spot on! I’m now using your approach and love it! No, I don’t look 35, but I do look well groomed and appropriately done. Thank you!!!

    • Liam Roberts says:

Shelly, I came across your videos whilst looking for exercises to start again at 55. I absolutely love your videos, and appreciate your honesty, passion and experiences. Thanks for sharing!

  • Raquel Buffham says:

I have watched SO MANY of these YouTube videos and I have to say, I enjoy yours the most. I’ve actually picked up a few things and been uplifted by your honesty about life after 50, so refreshing. I’m already using most of your tips by instinct, so thats a confidence boost too. Thank you!

  • Pamela Schultz says:

Great great advice!! Love the eye area tips. It’s so different how using and applying make-up the wrong way that we are sabotage what we’re trying to do. Now to check out your other videos because I’m still doing my make-up the way I was taught in the 70’s.👱‍♀️

  • Denise G says:

Great job! Just something important to note about applying makeup to the water line: each eyelid (upper and lower) has 22 glands. When these glands get clogged you get dry eye disease. It is awful. I speak from experience. So you really do not want to apply concealer too close and definitely not apply anything to the water line ever. This can happen at any age but aging people are especially vulnerable to it even if makeup isn’t worn.

    • karen81986 says:

Same thing happened to me but also got a eye infection from it.

    • Marilyn Meisel says:

@karen81986 Mine was so bad, I needed surgery! Yuk!

    • karen81986 says:

@Marilyn Meisel I get it. Eye doctor told me I had tons of black specks in my eye. It was awful I was completely blurry. Now I just use little bit of shadow by lash line. Sorry to hear about your surgery. Definitely miss my eyeliner. But definitely done using anything on the water line

    • Marilyn Meisel says:

@karen81986 I’m so glad to hear that you are fine after such a scare. Thank you for your kind reply.

    • karen81986 says:

@Marilyn Meisel your welcome. Do you still use eyeliner on waterline.

  • Anne Caulder says:

I knew I needed to update my makeup techniques, but I had no idea why things didn’t look right. This is exactly what I need! (Your “wrong” eye looks like our great ’80s style!)

  • Mary Bailey says:

Love everything about this. The only thing I would add is to use a clean Q-tip to make sure remnants of your previous eye makeup are removed from your waterline and lower lash line. We rarely let cleansers get that close to our eyes and small remnants can cause unwanted shadows.

Im 45 and getting married in Feb. I was sitting here crying after testing my hand at my own make up. Let’s just say, the wrong eye is my technique. Im so happy I found this. I can’t wait to wash this off and try again! Thank you, you are my new favorite!

  • Laura Herzog says:

As a 30 year old woman with small eyes I found this video VERY helpful. I found more tips to help me in this video than most videos of women my age. THANK YOU!

  • Diana C says:

After watching so many “how to” for mature eyes, I finally got it. I love how you demonstrate right and wrong! I’m gonna go out a get a few new items and start using my eyelash curler.

  • Amy Hines says:

Good news – the primer actually helps me keep my eyeliner in place, not just the shadow. It keeps the liner from transferring to the upper lid, especially if you have hooded eyes.

  • Susan van der Merwe says:

Im in my middle 60s and this was so helpful. Its crazy how one can get stuck in a certain era look. Thank you for this tutorial!.

Your tutorial was so enlightening! I had no idea that one can do so many different things to enhance your looks with make up. Beautifully presented- very helpful. Thank you!

  • Patricia Conroy says:

I am 67, recently volunteered to go grey naturally and learning to deal with my aging face. My hairdresser suggested your tutorials. I am so glad you are doing this. You are a lifesaver.

  • Carole O'Bannon says:

Wow, this video is amazing! I’ve always struggled with doing my own makeup, but after watching this tutorial, I feel so much more confident. The step by step instructions were really easy to follow, and the presenter’s tips and tricks were incredibly helpful. I especially loved how she explained each product she used and showed us how to apply it properly. Thanks so much for creating such a helpful video. I can’t wait to try out these techniques for myself.❤

  • Kim Mueller says:

This was such a helpful tutorial, thank you for sharing! I’ve struggled with getting my foundation to look smooth, but your tips really helped me. Can’t wait to try them out😊

  • Michelle Ramsey says:

AMAZING TUTORIAL!! Your tips gave me a whole new look that I love!! I had stopped using eye shadow years ago because I felt like I was caught in decades old techniques. Also, thank you for showing the wrong way and the right way at the same time to show us how bad the “don’t do” looks next to the right way!

    • fabulous50s says:

Thanks so much Michelle! 🙏 I am glad you enjoyed the post and I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment ❤️❤️❤️
