Just yesterday, I was listening to the radio, and a 75 year old man was interviewed on his lack of Alzheimers, despite having the genes for it and his entire family had Alzheimer’s.
They studied his brain and noticed that he had high levels of heat shock proteins in his brain. Well, it turns out he worked in very hot environments for most of his life. Like 110+ degrees F.
I immediately thought about how he essentially was using a sauna almost every day via his work environment. Sauna for brain health!
I 100% agree with sweating every day. As a guy in my 60s, I find that in order to have a good, deep, uninterrupted sleep, I need to do cardio (Zone 1 or 2) for 30-60 minutes, ideally two hours before bed, then take a steam sauna. It makes a huge difference – for me. YMMV. Many say that exercise before bedtime impairs your sleep quality. I only know what works for me.
