    1. My foundational diet is 95% Carnivore.
    2. Once you’ve established metabolic flexibility, you can periodically enjoy your favorite carbs, fruits & vegetables in limited amounts with no problem.
    3. Your healthy microbiome is durable & will recover.

    • @rfbead321 says:

I’m also >90% carnivore. This mediterranean concept is total nonsense based on flawed observational studies and of course it does better comparing it to the typical high processed food diet most people have these days…

    • @Diss-jd2un says:

I don’t see how someone can enjoy a vegetable lol, they are disgusting

    • @nellosnook4454 says:

      1. Individual tastes acquired over time.
      2. I actually love sauerkraut, broccoli, garlic, onions.
      3. And even Carnivores debate over the good & bad of certain fruits—especially berries.

    • @campersruincod6134 says:

@@Diss-jd2unhuh? I love the taste of vegetables. Sweet potato, lentils and carrots cooked in tomato sauce, with some EVOO and sea salt tastes great 🙂

    • @campersruincod6134 says:

@@nellosnook4454only downside to berries is fructose. Cranberries have almost zero fructose. They’re the king of berries. Packed full of polyphenols with no downsides to excess consumption… only problem is they’re difficult to obtain fresh.

  • @KuumbaOnline says:

Your voice sounded so different with the first few words you said on this video lol “ah the Mediterranean” 😂

  • @FastingStarChanelNo5 says:

Great info. I’m sticking w/dry fasting daily as long as possible, eating OMAD or 2MAD keto-biotic but I cheat sometimes. Who doesn’t love pasta or bread on occasion? Thx Siim.

@simland are you still recruiting participants for your project?

  • @Diss-jd2un says:

Those idiots guys who make videos about Mediterranean diet never went to a actually country that have this diet, those elders especially from Greece eat mostly dairy while Italians eat mostly meat and it’s funny how everyone repeat poultry but no one speak about how good they are at cooking horse meat and their special salami. The Spaniards eat a lot of pork since in the past they were poor and cows were expensive.

    • @sammavitae114 says:

As this video points out the clinical Mediterranean diet was based on the island of Crete in the late 1940’s and ’50’s. As a matter of fact food from several villages was gathered and frozen and taken for storage. So the scientists involved know exactly what was being eaten back then and it is nothing like that now. Look at the comment here from a guy from Crete and he points out what it really was like.

    • @eugene9000pro says:

idiots are those who comment without watching the video

  • @Alfamoto8 says:

I am from Crete and as you may know Mediterranean diet is based on Cretan cuisine. My two cents on the topic as raised and grown up in a village in Crete I would say there are two key factors here:
    a) The pyramid of the Mediterranean diet is not based on what’s best to eat rather than what was more accessible to eat. e.g. red meat was rarely consumed because it was so expensive. Small cheaper fish, chickens and rabbits were more accessible but still expensive. Eggs and goat milk you could have more often. etc…
    b) The quality of food is (was) the most important aspect of the diet. No broccoli or avocado, no berries, no dressings and staff you eat today. Most of the diet was plain green plants out in the fields, no pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers etc. We had our own olives, gardens and animals. Eating seasonal fruits under the trees,.
I could write for hours… Snails was the protein for the poor and a delicacy at the same time. Whole wheat boiled, nothing refined. A few thing store bought, home made sweets and stuff…
I ate salmon in my late 30s and I am 45, like the avocado… Nowadays they’re all gone. If you base your Mediterranean diet sources in the super market you are getting cancer… It’s sad…

And they eat more in the middle of the day, have a siesta, getting out into the sun.

  • @marcelotemer says:

    Closer and closer to WFPB

  • @MajicFreeman says:

There is a recent study showing most vegatable food oils have high amounts of plastics and olive oil had the highest when several different brands of each type of oil was tested.
I’m going to stick to just eating olives and avacado’s and cut out oils all together.
They don’t appear to be in butter and tallows so it most likely has something to do with the industrial filtering process of food oils.

  • @henrikmadsen2176 says:

So the clinical Mediterranean diet has MUCH LESS protein than what Siim is eating !!??

  • @henrikmadsen2176 says:

@1:28 ….. 78% of total fat coming from saturated fat ???

    • @Nic_Holas says:

      7 to 8

    • @dirtydirkie says:

saturated fat is healthy. there is no evidence that is causes cardiovascular disease. research ancel keys and the demonization of saturated fats. watch some presentations by Nina Teicholz like ‘big fat surprise’
Polyunsaturated seed oils and hydrogenated margarines are what causes disease

  • @hai.1820 says:

Just cut down processed foods and seed oils, you’ll be much better off.

  • @Acton65 says:

Thanks Siim!! You always have a balanced point of view together with supporting information. I recall that Valter Longo also pretty much endorses this view. After a few years on carnivore, I am now incorporating vegetables. Gallbladder / liver doesn’t like the lack of fibre in carnivore.

  • @DigitalDive19 says:

    How tall is Siim?

  • @Nic_Holas says:

Not disputing clinical Mediterranean diet, but it’s based on research ripped out of the culture and the environment. Real Mediterranean diet effect has to do with lifestyle of people in those areas. It’s not just the food, they just take life differently. If you’re typical European continental, go live in Milan for 6 months, then go to Naples. See if they drive you mad in Naples.

  • @maplenook says:

They walk a lot and get plenty of sun. Relaxed lifestyle. Other factors.
