That’s not a mega dose, bro. 100-200 would be a standard mega dose. You haven’t watched/listened to the experts on this topic.
My mega dose is 20-40 mg. down side is I have a very hard time falling sleep without supplementation.

I think 5mg is the sweet spot. 10mg or more should be used to target specific issue like you mentioned. Someone should play with the doses and see how it feels for every dose and find the sweet spot. In the end, better sleep is the end goal
But also: Feeling alert, and not groggy, when you wake up, is nice too

Maybe headaches are because of upregulation of Detoxification using such high dose. Did u try lower doses?

I used 320mg last night and I slept great and feel good this morning. The groggy feeling for me went away after a few days.

Ive gradually upped my dose for 20 years. 10mg the past 2 years and sleep well. Added 8g glycine and 6g taurine a yeae ago and seems positive results.
I took 80mg for a year. I slowly dropped down to 30mg, it works with all the other stuff I take to sleep.

i take 10/20 mg every night, minimum dose in commercial products is 1 mg not 0,3! Your 40x is clickbait.

You generally only needs .5 mg to have a good effect. Dosing more than this is generally not wise. In no small part to what you correctly brought up. We don’t make or need that much.
It depends why you are taking melatonin…… there are many different reasons. And do recall that most (about 95% ) of Melatonin is created in the mitochondria and NOT in the pineal gland at all. You are missing a BIG piece of mela
