Dr. Jay Wortman – ‘Global Anti-Meat Conspiracy’

Dr. Jay Wortman studied Biology and Chemistry at the University of Alberta and Medicine at the University of Calgary. He completed the Family Medicine residency at UBC before starting a private practice in Vancouver. He began combining that with part-time clinics at the STI/HIV the BC Centre for Disease Control where he eventually became the full-time Associate Director. He moved on the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada where he held senior management positions in Ottawa and Vancouver.

In 1992, Dr. Wortman developed type 2 diabetes and quickly discovered that it could be controlled by restricting dietary carbohydrates. He went on to do clinical research on low-carbohydrate diets and became a little bit famous for a study he did in the Namgis First Nation of Alert Bay which was the subject of the CBC documentary film, "My Big Fat Diet". His research interest in the dietary management of obesity, pre-diabetes and diabetes led him back into clinical practice.

Always really enjoy watching Dr Wortman. The documentary about his study is honestly one of the best LCHF movies out there!

  • MysticAura says:

What’s funny is if they wanted to lower carbon emissions from cows, they’d stop feeding them corn and go to grass fed. But of course they don’t want to do that because it would mean less factory farms and more small and healthy farmers (how it should be) The scary part is they aren’t only going after livestock, they have started to paint having pets as bad, or other groups trying to feed their carnivore animals, vegan diets. If I had my choice they’d be charged with animal cruelty.

Not to mention that cows (especially grass fed) contribute to fertile and bio-diverse land which sequesters more carbon and methane than their factory corn fed and mistreated livestock farms.

If they were worried about cows, they would go after India first. They have by far the most cows in the world. And the number of cows in the world has not significantly changed in ten thousand years. Remember when America was covered with bison as far as you could see?

We all understand the 80-20 rule & how 20% of any population by “thinking” succeed. Your opening 88% figure of metabolic syndrome alone should tell us we are heading in the wrong direction.

  • Mike says:

Very relatable. Most people I talk to try to limit red meat, as the food guides, media, doctors have been telling them to do for years (with no explanation). Personally eating 2 lbs of red meat a day made me much healthier, and my regenerative farmer has tested his soil to see great improvement in the soil quality.

  • Dennis M says:

I’m in the UK and the consultant doctor I was sent to said that food had nothing to do with my condition when I asked is there something that I should or should not be eating. That was the last time I saw a doctor as I left to fund my own remedies in food with great success. Thats why I watch these videos and haven’t watched TV in over a decade.
