Canned tuna and decent quality deli meats or rotisserie are indeed helpful sources of fast addition of protein to salads. I do cook my protein and attempt to have salads cut in advance; when it comes to salads I opt for flax seeds and tahini, olive oil or whole eggs. In Greece, there’s a bunch of greens you can buy in supermarkets or people selling in the street; currently I enjoy having vlita (that’s how it’s called, it’s amaranthe green leaves; you can either have them raw if they are young and tender or you can steam them for a few minutes and serve them with olive oil or any vinegar of your choice). Thanks :D.

On my smoothies prep, I prep my dry ingredients for the week in each individual cup, on the night before l put all the wet ingredients in by blender cup. When I make the smoothie for the day I add the dry ingredients to the blend cup and the frozen fruit and blend and pour into the dry ingredients cup.

When I meal prep salad by day 5 it is pretty wilted in the fridge… any tips?

    • Dave says:

5 days might be a stretch. I use a HUGE aluminum roasting pan to make/mix a HUGE salad in. I then transfer into 4 smaller tupperware covered containers and into frig. The day 4 salad is still very good. OR try ziplock bags (get as much air out as you can). Add chicken/eggs etc at time of eating.

good idea for smoothies, but I feel like washing spoons is much easier than washing the blender every day… although, with or w/o your trick, you still have to wash the blender every day… I’ve noticed in some recipes, for drinks and stuff, ppl add, I think xantan gum, one of the gums that are used for gluten free baking, but I think it was xantan, and not guar, and what it does, it helps stabilize the drink, so it won’t separate as much with time… maybe that could help with smoothies too, but, those gums are all polysaccharides so, even tho that’d be just a teaspoon or a half, you’d probably be against adding that.. but yeah, if you could blend smoothies maybe not for a week, but for few days all at once, and then not having to wash the blender every day, that’d be awesome,…

We make a smoothie for our 92-year-old father every day. This is a great idea! We’re going to start making him three or four at a time so he has them for three or four days. Thanks, Autumn.

Autumn can you discuss oxalates? Should we monitor the amount we consume daily as a person without any health issues?
