I have a feeling this video will be a big yikes.

  • @HipsterSpinster_ says:

Every American just needs to remember that the supplement industry is barely regulated by the FDA, and that is why the businesses choose to operate in that industry. Just take a food first approach.

    • @HipsterSpinster_ says:

Also, all cGMP facilities are not created equal. I know because I’ve worked for many of them over the years. Just because they say they follow the FDA CFR, does not mean they are good at actually following guidelines.

    • @Amyjwashere says:

basically test first cuz some people really are deficient in some vitamins and most are ok

    • @AbbeysKitchen says:

Yes, we totally understand how confusing it is to navigate the supplement industry. Again, why I always call it the wild west! I also support a foods first approach, however I also advocate for using supplements to fill in gaps when meeting your nutrition goals is more challenging. The choice always depends on your lifestyle and needs!

    • @wannabetrucker7475 says:

absolutely, fda has problems regulating drugs; i follow recalls and warning letters…. it’s staggering.

the supplement industry IS the wild west.

  • @HipsterSpinster_ says:

I see that on your FAQ answering the question of FDA approval without actually answering the question directly. Here is the answer you should have there: NO. Please modify your website to explain that if you want to be transparent.

  • @Ingtep says:

Why aren’t your supplements USP or NSF certified? Why aren’t your supplements analyzed by Consumer Lab?

    • @amielynn6775 says:

      She IS the industry.

    • @AbbeysKitchen says:

Great question! Consumer Lab, USP and NSF are just one of many reputable third party testing groups. Our products are third party tested as well with the same high quality standards. At this time, we’re not looking for specific certifications beyond this, but it may be considered in the future. You can read more about our standards here: https://neuetheory.com/pages/our-standards

  • @Diana-qp2rw says:

Abbey, I’m happy for you that you created a product you love and are proud of, but I really wish you weren’t so vague about the criticism on neue theory. Of course you’re not perfect, but some of us would really appreciate it if you actually addressed the issues people have and the questions they ask because it seems like with neue theory you did a lot of things that you would criticize if others did it.

Natalie Fox, another RD, has a video on neue theory that I thought was very insightful, but also disappointing. I wish you would address valid criticism like that and not just sweep it under the rug by quoting Taylor Swift. I’m sure many of us would be willing to listen to your explanations.

    Other than that, interesting video!

    • @michaeldonnan6767 says:

“with neue theory you did a lot of things that you would criticize if others did it.” No, she didn’t. That’s why you give zero examples.

    • @Diana-qp2rw says:

@@michaeldonnan6767I didn’t give examples because that would make the comment way too long to read it and I couldn’t explain it half as a good as the RD who I referenced.
But if you want me to give an example, take a look at the supposed effects of the ingredient and the studies that supposedly support this because then you might see that there’s not as much evidence for every ingredient’s effectiveness as Abbey would probably expect from any other influencer’s product. And let’s not pretend she wouldn’t make a snarky comment about a price like this if someone else had launched a protein powder for over $3 per portion.
I’m not saying this as a hater because I appreciate a lot of Abbey’s content. But I am disappointed and I’m not the only one.

    • @user-nr5he3ic9o says:

I’m guessing the other Abby nutritionist that she use to do videos with would give her supp a thumbs down.

    • @michaeldonnan6767 says:

      @@user-nr5he3ic9o You guessed wrong.

  • @thelaundress11 says:

Some good information but ultimately this just felt like a commercial for your own product. 👎 I hope all of your videos aren’t going to go this way.

  • @ireneqq2300 says:

I can smell the bias through the screen

    • @tanyasutherland5814 says:

Nearly an RD myself – I can agree it seems like it could be, but in reality, she’s stating facts. I was waiting for anything problematic to call out (yeah I’m totally that science gal lol) but there’s nothing worth mentioning. She laid out her disclaimer, she didn’t bash anyone, just explained how unregulated it is and how you can find safe products.

    • @Nunya-jw2dn says:

@@tanyasutherland5814She talks about transparency but has failed to provide the third party testing results despite being asked repeatedly to do so. She claims her product reduces symptoms of IBS but provides not” clinical evidence to support this. She has built a brand off criticising others for promoting expensive and unnecessary dietary supplements but then comes out with her own and gets butt hurt when she gets called out for it. It is one rule for Abbey and another for everyone else.

  • @samanthabruno7189 says:

Who is your third party tester?

    • @themagicknightress7132 says:

I think Swayzee mentions it in her video on her Unnatural Vegan channel? I don’t remember

  • @SkylerAdriel says:

I find this really interesting. I appreciate all of the research and the shared information. This actually sort of supports my decision to not overly suppliment. I haven’t really seen evidence that supports that suppliments are all that beneficial for healthy people that eat a balanced diet. I do take a vitamin D suppliment because that level is low for me, but that’s about it for now I think. I would absolutely feel more confident taking this powder after all of the care you have put in to this if I were to ever go down the route so I don’t want to in any way express disapproval for this product. This is probably really great for those that struggle with having time to put together balanced meals or who want to hike up the protein level in their smoothies. But in terms of a health perspective, I think it is also important to note that supplimenting protein may not be necessary for good health.

    • @AbbeysKitchen says:

Couldn’t agree more. This product is really for people who struggle to meet their daily protein goals. It can be tricky. Always food first, and then my goal is, is to educate people on what to look for if achieving your nutrient goals through food isn’t enough.

Your protein shake 😅 not affordable not necessary either.

  • @danastonerock says:

I’m confused more recently. Anyone else not loving abbey’s content lately? It’s getting stale. It makes me sad because i really do like Abbey, but i think its time to shake things up, come up with new ideas. I could care less about her protein powder product, but the vibe more recently is slight entitlement/ up on the high horse. Abbey is very knowledgeable, but also ive noticed a lot of talk on how she keeps saying shes smart, this and that. I get it, you have a science brain. Idk, lately, she’s a bit overkill
    😢

    • @kyrar.j.4856 says:

I’ve been feeling this for a while too. It’s like she slowly slid into a more emotionally manipulative position than straight forwardly honest like her previous content. Although, I’m not saying she’s done this on purpose, I don’t think she has, but I have noticed that my subconscious is picking up on more and more red flags than before in her behavior and words, and I haven’t been able to put my finger on exactly what that change is. But I don’t appreciate it. Perhaps the sass has been taken too far? Entitlement/high-horse is a good way of putting it, but doesn’t quite include the whole issue. I feel like she used to take a stance that was more openly kind and compassionate, and it’s more stilted now. Something about it is fake, or unprofessional maybe?
I also don’t care as much about her product. I’m happy she’s happy about it but it’s honestly a luxury item with a price tag like that and it’s way beyond what most people can reasonably afford, even if it is high quality. I’m not here to hear about marketing, I’m hear to learn about nutrition in a safe environment. And it doesn’t feel say anymore, there’s an elephant in the room. Maybe it’s just stress.

    • @Diana-qp2rw says:

@@kyrar.j.4856Oh, I agree, I have been noticing that lately there are much more videos of her that I don’t (fully) watch because they are either not as interesting anymore or more harmful than helpful to my relationship with food. Might be me, partly, but I think it’s interesting I’m not the only one feeling a change I don’t like.

    • @user-fc4xg5ym1t says:

@@kyrar.j.4856It’s funny how y’all are just now picking up on the red flags, they’ve always been there, this product launch just made them even more obvious

    • @user-nr5he3ic9o says:

Well I look at the consumer she’s trying to attract with her powder. Upper class women willing to buy a weird supp powder that is touted as curing IBS by a YouTube influencer. I think her videos from now on will mainly focus on bringing those women to her channel. Therefore the content might get pretty boring for us subscribers.

  • @000snow000 says:

I have one major criticism after trying my first bag of neue powder. The damn closure sucks! Took me forever to close the bag and it doesnt even stay closed half the time. Please make the ziplock thingy better!

    • @AbbeysKitchen says:

Ohhhh this is some great feedback! We will look into what can be done for future batches.

    • @000snow000 says:

@@AbbeysKitchen thank you! The bag texture itself feels very luxe so if you can get the closure to that level it would definitely enhance the experience 🙂

  • @Creativedork32 says:

*responds to criticism of her product with an advertisement shilling for her product*

You’ve ripped apart many supplement brands and natural health practices for being useless. Until you did natural treatment for your SIBO, and it worked.

As someone with complex chronic illness, when nothing else worked, natural treatments saved my sanity and possibly my life.

And apparently yours, despite your history of shunning them. You’ve deemed many things as safe because there’s not yet evidence that they aren’t safe (make it make sense). Even when someone avoids them for a health condition.

The “holier than thou” “I’m the expert, I know best” attitude is off putting. Grouping all criticism as “haters” that you’ll “never please” is such a great cope.

You don’t get to cherry pick when being critical fits your brand. Maybe some of the criticism you face has a point.

You talk about accessibility and made a largely inaccessible product, that you’d probably rip apart if it wasn’t your brand.

    • @user-nr5he3ic9o says:

She does get to cherry pick . It’s not against the law. It’s up to us as consumers to NOT buy this overpriced unproven supp.

    • @Nunya-jw2dn says:

@@user-nr5he3ic9oif she’s going to claim she’s all about the science and hold her RD title over us, she needs to be accurate in what she says. Many of the studies she cites have nothing to do with the claims she’s making and she just thinks we’re all too stupid to realise.

  • @moniquelindholm1381 says:

Oh stop. You could have AT LEAST made it 30 servings. I like a lot of your videos and advice but this? Nope. Hard no

  • @anitafoss2133 says:

I truly wish you success with your product. It is probably amazing, I personally cannot afford it and as I’m not vegan, gluten free, etc., I will continue to use the brands of protein powders you had previously recommended in a video. Perhaps your brand will evolve and one day offer other a healthy whey option, doesn’t need to be organic, or even gluten free, for those of us who just want to add protein to smoothies or for making our own protein bars.

I love the information you share, your videos have been a great experience for me and truly I wish you success. I just think you missed a large demographic with the all encompassing attributes and cost of your protein powder.

All that being said, I absolutely value all of your time and efforts and will continue to watch your videos and tell people about you when they ask how I lost weight and kept it off.

  • @racheljohnston7846 says:

    • @TheJDSimpson says:

    • @michaeldonnan6767 says:

@TheJDSimpson  About 3% of people are vegan so she probably isn’t. Most protein powders are used for smoothies so I wanted to contrast breakfast foods. Bacon and eggs are classic in the SAD.

    • @user-fc4xg5ym1t says:

@@michaeldonnan6767What’s with the “live longer” comment then? As a vegan, you should know that whole foods are better for you than protein powders, actually it’s common sense regardless if you’re vegan or not. Stop defending your girl Abbey

  • @k.tracyreynolds9246 says:

The whole point is that supplements are not necessary unless you have a diagnosed defiency, in which case you would be prescribed a specific supplement. Making your own guided by experts does not change this fact.

  • @abigailfitzgerald7508 says:

It’s a pity Abbey wasn’t able to get a sponsor for her infomercial.

  • @user-xs5fk5dc6i says:

Seems like an ad. Should be marked as an #AD.

  • @angeleighguy1991 says:

Abbey just remember that the brain naturally biases towards negative comments and it’s some crazy number like 8 positive comments equals the same weight as one negative.

I’m not sure about your product, mostly because I likely won’t try it because I like Vega sport berry. However I applaud your effort. We live in a world where we need money, so it’s okay if you build your best supplement and make money from it.

As you go through this new experience. I hope you give yourself kindness and remember to weigh the negative less heavy than the positive in your mind.
