CRISPY KETO FRENCH FRIES WITH A SECRET INGREDIENT! How to make Keto French Fries with a Twist!

This recipe was created by Heavenly Fan (or @heavenly_fan on Instagram) Here is her original recipe link with both coconut flour and almond flour recipes:

Here is our tweak with a secret ingredient:
50g coconut flour (or 6 tbsp plus 2 tsp)
3 tsp xanthan gum
7.5 tbsp hot water
1/4-1/3 cup pre grated or pre shredded Parmesan cheese (if you want it extra crispy like me, use 1/3)
After testing out the recipe many times, we found that this had the best crunch texture (super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside). It tastes just like McDonald’s fries when they’re fresh!!
Also, please not that I did try both almond flour and coconut flour recipes, we just loved the coconut flour one more ❤️

A few things to note, these fries are the best fresh, tossed in a little bit of salt! Also, I preferred the coconut flour recipe but you can adapt it to the almond flour too!

Have you tried this with potato extract? I made the original recipe and loved it. I did see another video were they added potato extract and it seemed to be a hit.

What oil do you used for fry?
@Karen Latham I just refound the video and ordered the extract. I’m going to try it with the parmesan and extract.
I was hesitant to try these, but just did. The moment the first batch came out, I seasoned with adobo, pepper and a bit of onion powder, put in my mouth and then time froze! I wasn’t expecting it to taste so much like an actual French fry and it did! I asked my non-keto husband if he thought it tasted like a French fry and his response was “what do you mean? It is a French fry, no?” !!!!
Oh my! That added seasoning sounds so good! I am so glad he thought they were fries! Thank you!

Thanks! I just made this tonight. I used Shredded Mozzarella cheese instead since I didn’t have Parmesan cheese at home! It turned out amazing! The drought is like masked potato! I fried them a bit longer to get the crunchy texture (until just over golden brown)! Thanks!

Thank you Myra. The extra ingredient is the parmessan cheese. Worked great for me ,crispy and tasted great with burger and fries and ketchup and also with chorizo con huevo with keto fries added after chorizo and just before the eggs.

This bass recipe could be so versatile for just about everything for keto people! From sweet treats to flat bread tortillas pizza crust it can go just about any direction!
I did a turnip with olive oil and salt and cooked in my air fryer. Dipped in sugar free ketchup and it was awesome. Wife couldn’t believe how good it was too. So simple, thanks for the ideas.
Definitely turnips or rudabags makes great French fry substitutes and less carbs than flour

@Jimmy Dempsey Xanthan gum is a binder and a thickener. You can order it online, if you can’t find in your local grocery.

@JCD BRW …I found it at Walmart. You use it in alternative flour for bread too.
Made them for myself and my partner and we were amazed by how amazing they are! They puff up a tiny bit when cooked so don’t be afraid to make them thin (and then freeze them for a bit for them to hold shape more. I’ll be doing this next time we make them) Then we fried it in coconut oil. It was so good!! 👀 😋 🍟 We used Asiago cheese because that’s what we had on hand and it was still sooo good 👍🏼 💙 thanks Mayra!
This absolutely made my night! I added cheddar parm cheese. Since the cheese was super hard, had to pour the hot water directly on it to melt into the coconut flour… the taste after deep frying and seasoning was amazing! I’m hooked!!

These are incredible! Definitely a game changer. I’ve already made them 3 times. I season the dough while mixing it because the first time the seasoning rolled off the fries. Paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. I love them! 🤤

Omg I tried this recipe… and let me tell you.. it was delicious! I was SUPER skeptical , but you proved me wrong. I was just telling my husband I have found a keto substitute for almost anything, EXCEPT fries.. and BAM this video pops up in my feed. It really does have the texture of crispy French fries.. even my husband liked it and he’s super picky with any substitute version of any meal hahaha!! The only thing different I did was add salt and cajun spice to the dough and then some more after I took them out. Yumm, thank you so much! Im going to make carne asada fries tomorrow with this recipe 🤤
