May I ask your height please?
Thanks for sharing 😮😊
Thanks for sharing Mayra
Yes please talk about this. Your videos are so inspirational & edifying. Thank you so much Mayra ❤
Myra i had weight loss surgery i lost 100 lbs its the best decision i ever done i be 2 years in may in maintance now
You look great Mayra and thanks for sharing your journey. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻
My husband had his weight loss surgery in 2019 and to this day he still says it was the best decision he ever made.
That surgery will catch up with him down the road. Any weight loss surgery where you alter your body is not natural. Weight loss surgery is for lazy people who have no willpower to control their eating.
I feel for you!! Lost a ton of weight in a short period of time, and I can’t stand that saggy crap. Good for you!
Omg Myra so much of what you just said I agree with. Food is medicine 100%. I will say my experience with keto has been really good. My body responds to it really well and it’s helping me heal my body from inflammation caused by my Hashimoto’s hypothyroid and adrenal fatigue. Also, I can attest to the fact that with keto and I really think any lifestyle you need to cook your food, prepare your food, prepping it for the week etc. It needs to be done by you and not, prepackaged with all the preservatives and crap. I noticed in my journey in the very very beginning when I started getting into the “ketofied”foods like quest cookies, meal replacement bars, etc it made me lazy so to speak, and I would have those instead of my own prepared foods and Wow did my results suffer! when I stay clean and eat only food that I have prepared my body feels it’s best and I have my best results. I think a lot of the advancements. We have our great as far as surgeries being able to remove the excess skin and aid in our weight loss but I do think trying a new lifestyle and making those changes first is always better and then have surgery be your last choice. But again everybody’s different and everyone has a different path either way at the end of the day as long as you’re happy and healthy.
You are genuinely one of the most supportive people on YouTube and your videos feel like you are just talking one on one❤ Thank-you for being so open and honest 🤗🤗
I just cooked your chicken alfredo recipe and it was super easy and really good, I need to lose @50 lbs so your recipes really help. My son does keto and walks 5 miles a day, he lost @ 60 lbs, meat and veg and lots of water he even gave up beer which I think was the biggest issue
When I decided to start Keto back in June 2020. You were my main inspiration for recipes. I was able to lose 70lbs and maintained for about a year. It got harder but switched to low carb which was better for me. I recently fell off the Keto wagon and my body doesn’t feel as good as it did when I was doing Keto. I’m doing Keto again started this week with an egg fast. I’m on day 2 of my egg fast and I already feel better. Love your videos!!!
Same! Keep it up!
I had gastric bypass surgery in 2011. It was a great decision bc it helped me feel healthier and more self confident. I lost 70lbs. However, I started to regain the weight back in 2016 gradually and now that I’m going through menopause I’m struggling to lose weight again. I’ve been on keto for awhile but I haven’t been consistent. I know that if I do clean keto and exercise at least 3xs a week with intermittent fasting I can lose the weight. I just need to get motivated and set my mind to to do it.
I’m scared of weight loss surgery for me personally, but if I lost all the weight I needed to lose, I would DEFINITELY get surgery to get rid of the excess skin left over.
I had weight loss surgery (gastro sleeve) in 2015, I was 365 and down to 178! I’m 55 now and menopause is killing me, losing weight is not easy! I have gained 90 pounds back! I started January eating very clean, healthy a lot of protein, so maybe I will start losing weight again! 🙏🙏🙏
When I was 20 , I had lost 100 lbs. I had no loose skin anywhere. That was 1976. I had no idea how to keep it off. Within 10 yrs I gained most of it back. I did lose it again but this time I had saggy skin. I was 30 then, I’m 67 now and still yoyoing. What I’ve learned in the past 6 months has been mind blowing. Intermittent Fasting, finding you and consistent exercise has made another long weight loss journey more empowering. I am still considering sleeve surgery as I again have 100 lbs to lose and I know skin removal surgery will be a necessity. I did have a point..really. You are a blessing dear. Thank you for sharing your journey. I do believe most of us have 1 or 2 journeys to share ( Or like me 40 years worth). It’s nice to have help and to know no one is alone in this fight anymore.
Surgery or not, it’s still a fight and we are all warriors . Here’s to all of us…❤ I think I made my point😅
Eating high quality fats keeps insulin levels low, which puts you into a fat burning mode. Higher insulin levels caused by eating sugar and refined carbs and even a lot of protein, puts your body into a fat storage mode . I love your quote “food is either your medicine, or your illness “. You choose. You are such an inspiration, not many people change their lifestyle for more than 15 years. Most slowly go back to their old ways 😊
I really appreciate you sharing your journey with us. It’s very encouraging to know we all face similar challenges and can persevere 😊
I was considering bariatric surgery, but wanted to see if I could loss the weight on my own before I went that route, because I don’t have anyone to help me out during the healing process, and of course the cost of it all. Started my journey July 2023 and have been doing okay. I lost 50 lbs so far by fasting and eating healthier ingredients… plus more protein and veggies. However, I do have my days and sometimes I just have to have that regular chocolate chip cookie, or that Rice A Roni Spanish rice, or I’ll just crave these things and possibly binge. Although I don’t really keep too many unhealthy things in my home for this very reason. TFS Mayra…you look great and I’m thankful to have found your channel. ❤
I had weight loss surgery in 2001. The nickname for my surgery is DS. I did a ton of research beforehand and did it because it had the best long term results of any other surgery. Yes, I have to avoid certain foods like grains but that’s a good thing. I take my supplements everyday and get yearly blood tests to make sure everything looks good. I weighed 318 lbs back then and today I weigh 150 lbs. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks for always being supportive of your subscribers, no matter what. ❤
I had a very similar experience. Had gastric bypass surgery in 2005 at 318 lbs. I never got below 200 until I tried keto in 2017. Wish I knew about low carb eating before surgery as I try to keep on top of malabsorption issues, but I made the best decision for me at that time in my life.
I had RNY gastric bypass back in March of 2018. I went on to lose over 200lbs (my highest weight was 392lbs). It seriously saved my life. It was a last resort and one that I didn’t think was even possible. I had no idea that this surgery was covered here in Canada, and because I was struggling with severe mental health issues, I had 4 therapists and a psychiatrist, and one of my therapists used to work at a bariatric clinic in toronto and suggested it to me. I completely broke down and thanked her for literally saving my life. I had so many co-morbidities. My BMI was 63, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia etc. Immediately after the surgery, I no longer needed my CPAP machine, was off ALL my medication for high BP etc. I had crazy amount of loose skin, my belly near hit my knees lol. (literally have many videos of it during my weight loss journey here on youtube). I went on to have 2 rounds of skin removal surgery. First one was my Fleur de Lis tummy tuck on June 16 2021 (9lbs of skin removed off my belly… mind you it looked like a LOT more lol. I have photos on my IG of my surgeon literally holding my entire belly that he cut off of me in his hands and you could barely see him behind it lol, was WILD!) Then on May 18th of 2022 I went on to have my second round of plastics and got my arms and thighs done with a revision to the previous tummy tuck as there was still some loose skin left behind. He took 2.2lbs off my arms, another 1.26lbs off my stomach and 4.74lbs off of my thighs for a total of another 8.2lbs of skin removed (he also took 1500 ccs of from lipo because even though the skin was removed from my thighs, my knees were still abnormally large in proportion). I have a LOT of battle scars from this journey, but I wear them all so proudly because without them, I probably wouldn’t even be here right now. I really need to update my videos here, all of my skin removal was posted on IG, but I have been busy from finally having my first job and living life now, that I have gotten lazy in uploading here (as I am terrible when it comes to editing lol). But anyways, for anyone who has tried it all, and things feel hopeless and that you will never be able to lose the weight that has been holding you back from living and feeling your best, if you have the means to get weight loss surgery, DO IT. Don’t worry about others judging you for taking it “easy way out”. There is nothing EASY about trying to save your life. Again, you can just as easy gain it ALL BACK! But the surgery gives you the best head start in boosting success in finally losing it. It is still up to YOU to continue using it as a tool for the rest of your life! Again… best decision EVER… my only regret, is I didnt do it 20 years ago. I am now 48 years old lol and am just now living life for the FIRST time IN my life. I was over 300lbs since I was 17 years old!
Can you do a weight loss before and after surgery pics?? I’ve lost almost 90lbs and thinking about surgery and would like to see your results and pros and cons and how you did with the surgery and scars! A lot of YouTubers post this stuff but I have been following you for years and if you’re comfortable with it I’d love to hear your input!!
Hello Mayra, let me just say again how much I adore you! You have literally been my inspiration and saving grace. I cannot eat “diet food” for the rest of my life. But YOU have given me absolutely delicious recipes that are so full of flavor and so satisfying. I CAN do this for the rest of my life. My labs are PERFECT! I cannot thank you enough for being here for me and everyone else! I love you, I love you, I love you! 😘
Thanks for feeling safe enough to be vulnerable with us. I am almost 70 and had gastric sleeve surgery 9 years ago. I have no regrets even though I developed peritonitis a few days after the surgery and ended up back in the hospital for 10 days on IV antibiotics. Since then, I’ve lost down to 160. Periodically, I will get lazy and regain a bit. I am a total sugar addict and holidays are my hardest challenge. I regained 15 pounds this past year and I’m jumping back on the keto wagon. Thank you for being a mentor for me. Your recipes are easy and taste great.
