  • David Knigge says:

This is one of the finest presentations and discourses on the benefits of LDL and a ketogenic diet high in animal based foods. Fantastic that he gives credit to this grass roots movement to citizen scientists and patients. He warns those in the medical community to get on board and change the policies or they will all get the buggy whip! Wow!

    • My NMN Experiment says:

So true, unfortunately it’s not what the processed food and pharmaceutical companies want to see.

    • Readings by CARA says:

@David Knigge Agreed. Exceptional good review of the importance of the often demonized LDL cholesterol.

    • Metaorange says:

My NMN Experiment But it’s what we and the smaller unprocessed food companies and small “clean” and local farmers needs!

    • Tina Ramsden says:

@My NMN Experiment /of course how will they make $$

    • Simo says:

Actually my new doctor suprised me. He was agreeing with me on my doubts about the meat, eggs, fats ”’official” guidelines, so he confirmed that there is no real evidence in regards to those being bad. The simple reason, is that he studied also statistics. That’s what other doctors are missing. So when you check a statement, and the research backing it, if (for example) you see it’s an epidemiological study, you know it’s not a valid argument. But if you haven’t studied statistics, then you take the statement at face value.

  • HeartMiner says:

Can we all agree that fasting is generally good for health?

    • My NMN Experiment says:

100%, but the food and drug companies would never admit to that, it’s all about their bottom line!

    • O K says:

      Doonwati Singh Bizarre.

    • Metaorange says:

Doonwati Singh I’d perhaps add more protein. I believe protein adjustments can also be very useful to us who just tend to keep losing weight. Adding fruit to up carb intake to 15-20% might help too. But what’s the trade-off? What are your needs? Every person is different though because we all have slightly different lifestyles and health or body conditions. Only you can figure out what’s best for you I believe. I’m with you though, and I believe I need to up my fruits & veggies a little! It’s unfortunate that everything good is getting so darn expensive now!

Been keto OMAD since ending a 7 day fast beginning on Fat Tuesday this year…taking a 1 or 2 meal break on saturdays or sundays…so I hadn’t eaten a bite of food for three days earlier this week—still felt great!!! No weakness, no gnawing hunger, no constant thoughts of food…I know it’s connected to this keto diet I’m on, it has to be; I worked each of those days in a busy hospital walking constantly yet I felt great the entire time….what else can explain that?!? I’m lovin this!!!

  • Wyatt Wellness says:

Been on the Keto Diet for 2 years and just got my blood work back and this is spot on. I’ve never felt better!

  • In_Flames says:

I’m down 24.6lbs since I started keto (9 weeks ago). I’ve never felt more awake and alert. I stopped taking Ritalin for my ADHD. It’s a life changing experience.

    • Marica Maas says:

Look into the work of Neurologist -also qualified in nutrition – Natasha C.McBride; she developed the GAPS diet for many conditions; this after her son was cured through diet (he had ADHD).

    • Scott Mooneyham says:

      Now look into vitamin D

    • Emily Anne says:

My bipolar has been in remission (fat adaption exasperated it while on psych meds), my eating disorder is in remission as well. Anxiety was not helped with a keto diet but after believing and being told medication was the only thing to help my bipolar disorder and I HAD psychosis intermittently as well as 3 psychiatrists diagnose bipolar it is unbelieveable to me where I am now. My bipolar mood changes were always influenced by extreme stress and that isnt happening now. I would say my anxiety is worse than when I was on medication and it was already to the point that I am disabled so I am unsure how to move forward. The meds that helped some with anxiety made keto impossible due to the bipolar. Living with the anxiety has been unresolved through copious amounts of therapy and only seems to disappear up to 48 hours with an ativan which i dont want to take. My current plan is to utilize yoga/breathing exercise as it does help but it doesnt stop me from visiting the hospital constantly.
Fyi before keto I was on tons of psych meds (cipralex, wellbutrin, topamax, clonazepam, seroquel), was diagnosed with t2 diabetes an a1c of 9 are skip the dishes/fast food every meal or the day, my hdl was .86, ldl 3.01, trigs 1.44. Only my hdl was out of range (low), 9 months later eating keto without many processed foods my hdl is 1.21 ldl 4.67 and trigs 1.03. I was eating far more sat fat and very unhealthy previously at 3000 to 3500 calories a day yet my ldl went up 50% when I lost 75lbs. How could it possibly be saturated fat doing this? My dietician is equally perplexed and this has led her to start investigating.

  • ganzo says:

True story, 1) I started Keto my total Cholesterol went above 300. 2) Doctor ordered 40mg statin. 3) on my own I took a calcium scan test and passed in flying colors. 4) Doctor reduced dosage to 20mg. 5) I pushed for LDL type test and found most LDL in my blood was low density. 5) Doctor reduced dosage to 5mg. 6) I bought the pills and left them in my drawer.

    • crimper s says:

holy f how is this not the standard diagonostic procedure for doctors? If you want to know if something is working or not, do the damn test. One can argue for and against the biochemistry of lipoproteins, but you can’t argue against a calcium score as physical evidence of efficacy. I’m starting to think that statin research by big pharma purposely ignored the most obvious method for testing efficacy just so they can market a product for 20 years until someone realizes LDL is irrelevant for plaq formation, cardiac events, and mortality.

    • Big cows, small cows, all cows says:

Why losing time and money with “doctors”, tests and various pills? 🤔

  • Rex Dickerson says:

Thank you for having the courage to speak out against the conventional train of thought on LDL and cholesterol.

  • Elizabeth 😘 Prov 28:9 אלישבע says:

The bit about viruses.. incredible!! Explains why my whole family has been on a Keto diet For just about two weeks, and when all three of my children came down with a fever a few days ago, that was the only symptom they got! All three bounced back quickly, and had no further symptoms! The more I learn about this way of life (I refuse to call it a “diet” anymore!) the more I am convicted that every single person on earth should be on some variation of it! It’s a life-saving way of eating!! All I can do for now is change our family’s habits and go one day at a time!

    • Energy X says:

It’s amazing how sick I was for the first 30+ years of my life while on the standard American diet… Since going low carb, and more recently keto/carnivore, I just don’t get sick. COVID was a non-event with a couple days of soreness and temporary loss of smell. I never even got an elevated temp from it… thank you LDL!

  • Alex-at-62 says:

Eye-opening, myth-busting, clear, and concise. Thankyou Dr Ali for this great public service 👏🏻

  • Alessandro Affri says:

Thank you so much for your work . I’ve been fasting eating an animal based diet since 18/19 years now. It’s so hard to find out a cardiologist or an MD that think differently, putting health first other than politics, pharmaceutical interests, insurance companies and such. Thank you

  • Damien says:

I’ve lost 15 kg in three months through fasting!! I’m 5’8 and used to weigh 95 kg but after watching Dr.Berg’s videos about intermittent fasting I decided to follow it strictly that helped me a lot in getting back to close to a healthy weight so I’m very thankful to Dr.Berg for saving my life and he says same thing as said in this video

    • Kian says:

Funny, same here. 95 kg and have lost 20kg in four month but my Cholesterol level went through the roof. I was shocked but when I saw Dr Bergs Videos about that I am pretty much cool now.

    • Songbird Channel says:

I watch Dr berg’s videos too. Glad this doctor agrees with dr berg.

    • Anwaar Ibrahim says:

@Kian my LDL is getting higher after fasting…did your LDL lower after sometime?

    • James Kantor says:

@Anwaar Ibrahim look at your triglyceride and HDL too. You want you triglyceride / HDL lower that 2.0 and ideal is 1.0. I think LDL will stabilize, but may not go down.

    • zero tolerance for Satanic Elite says:

      @Anwaar Ibrahim
If you listened to the video you would understand that there is no need to be concerned about your LDL & your body excretes excess into your bowel and then mops up bad stuff( bacteria & toxins) in the gut.
So you could say that on a keto diet high LDL is beneficial.

  • M Kay says:

Phew! Thank goodness for this talk. Now I know why my GP says my LDL is too high and suggested stains which I declined. I fast 18:6 most days and am low carb. This really put my mind at ease!🙏🙏🙏

    • Suzanne Carrier says:

I just got my bloodwork results and have high LDL. Haven’t talked to doctor yet but I am nervous! Are you still feeling well? Are you still off stations? What is the doctor’s perspective on this a year later? Thank you.

    • zee hedge says:

same here. For almost 20 yrs l have been skipping breakfast, eating 2 meals a day at 10-11 and 5-6, fasting/one meal a day twice a week, brisk walking & cycling almost everyday, but my cholesterol level is so high my doctor wanted to put me on statin. l declined bcos l was scared it might affect my organs. Was worried at first but not anymore..

    • Clarin says:

Good for you. Happy that you ran into this information.

  • TAKURO says:

I am delightfully astonished. Just got my blood test results. Liver function back to normal. A1c dropped 4 points over 2 months. LDL was high so I worried until I listened to this lecture. I’m in ketosis and doing IF. Weight is down 10 kilos. I’m still astonished and so are my doctors in Tokyo.

  • ThunderHog says:

One of the best, most encouraging videos I have ever seen about my high LDL due to Keto and intermittent fasting!

    • Michael L says:

No survey would show that this is the general viewpoints of most doctors. Not saying he’s wrong but this is added confusion.

    • Logan Schuetzle says:

My father thought he was healthy regardless of his high LDL, yet had a massive heart attack at 57

  • engin says:

What a wonderful presentation, I feel that I am a privilege person to listen such a very high quality lecture!

  • Eugene Jacobs says:

I just got my blood work read by my doctor. I’ve lost 50lbs on keto, but my cholesterol levels were high. I got worried. Now, after seeing the science behind this, I feel much better. My doctor said he wasn’t worried. Took me off my blood pressure medication. Thank you!

    • TheHoth1 says:

keep your eyes on the Total cholesterol/HDL ratio. As long as it is under 5.1, I wouldn’t lose sleep over the high LDL number. I started my keto last year my ratio has gone down from 5.0 to 4.0. Healthy and happy as a clam.

    • Johnny Twister says:

What is high “cholesterol “ for you Mine = Cal LDL 213. Cholesterol 302 ?

    • Denise Rand says:

Sounds like mine I’m off BP tabs too ldl was slightly high now when I stopped meats and very limited my Hal good ldl too I eat a lot of fish I fast 21 hrs a day keeping a eating window of only three hours

    • Denise Rand says:

      @TheHoth1 yes mine is 2:8

    • Mia Michaels says:

      @TheHoth1 Also your triglyceride/HDL ratio.

  • Lizzie B says:

Amazing how we have been taught exactly the opposite. My Oncologist who put me on Keto/Intermittent fasting in Feb 2021 to drop 15 lbs (I lost 22 lbs of fat) was delighted to see my weight drop, my fat gone, and my cholesterol UP from 190 to 251. He told me: You’re doing it right! Don’t change a thing! The difference in him versus my American Schooled Primary Care MD? He was European trained and does not cater to big Pharma. So fortunate to have scored him as my Oncologist 🙏🏼.

    • mar jn says:

The best test to take on keto is the NMR test. 119.00 but worth it.

    • Gail S. says:

      @mar jn What is NMR?

    • Fleurdavril says:

I miss European doctors for that mentality….

    • E B says:

It’s all about the money and the business model. U.S. healthcare is profit based. There is more profit in a sick patient buying expensive drugs than a cured one. Europe is a cost based healthcare system. Since the government pays for healthcare it is in their best interest to keep costs low. A cured healthy patient costs less money.

  • Roman Estillore says:

The brilliance of science, reasoning, logic, and unpretentious intent to make mankind well-guided with correct knowledge of health—that is, Dr. Nadir Ali. You are a gift to humanity.

  • sokbase says:

Best free education, best presentation, and most of all best useful information. Thank you Dr Nadir.

  • FreeMocean says:

Legendary presentation, thank you 🙏 my LDL is nearly 400 but my Trigs/HDL is under 0.5 and zero on my CAC
