Friday Favorites: Removing Warts with Duct Tape

Duct tape beat out cryotherapy (freezing) and ten other treatments for removal of warts in a randomized, controlled, head-to-head trial. Why isn’t it standard practice?

This includes the first and second videos in a three-part series on duct tape for wart removal. Check out the last one: Which Type of Duct Tape Is Best for Wart Removal? ( ).

I never heard of using duct tape for warts until I was researching other dermatological remedies, like the ones found in Benzoyl Peroxide vs. Tea Tree Oil for Acne ( ), Does Tea Tree Oil Work for Nail Fungus? ( ), and Benefits of Tea Tree Oil for Warts & Cold Sores ( ).

Rub with garlic they drop off the next day

    • @tracyleighbasham says:

I had to tape garlic to my wart for a few days, then still had to dig out the tiny black “stem” after the garlic softened the wart. But, it never came back after that. 😅

This might sound crazy but hear me out: what if we take the liquid nitrogen-wart money and, you’ll say I’m nuts, but I say put it into something like curing cancer or making those wart-popping doctors learn to help somebody with a more complicated problem instead?
And, this may seem totally off the charts, but maybe just put the wart-laser money into developing new cures? Or, God forbid, invest it into making medicare more affordable. But that would be totally crazy to the leaders of the medical community, am I right?

I wait on this guy regularly at Outback Steakhouse and he’s not just eating a salad. He wears dark glasses and a hat but I know it’s him as soon as he speaks.

    • @beepbeepnj2658 says:

And when you waited on me your hand was all messed up and I said do you have warts? And you said, “no, just what’s on the menu.”

  • @justinhale5693 says:

Tea tree oil worked for my daughter’s planter’s wart. It took almost a week, applied once a day, for a difference to be visible. After applying twice a day it was gone about a month latter.

  • @PaulSolt says:

While the title calls it “Duct Tape”, I used the original gray “Duck Tape.” The Original Duck Tape (official brand) worked in a couple weeks without any discomfort. To keep the Duck Tape on, I cut a small 2 x 0.5 inch strip of Duck Tape and put a Fabric Band-Aid on it to help keep it in place.
My dermatologist excised the skin above the wart (she sliced off skin layers with a razor), and then the plantar wart cleared up even faster. I didn’t want to cryofreeze my foot because I run and walk regularly.
After a week of Duck Tape, the wart fell out leaving a white crater. I kept it up for a few days after that.

  • @trevorregay9283 says:

ok, I have a small wart that appeared on the top of my right hand below my index finger knuckle…which is ugly and annoying….so I’m going to try this; however, the only “Duct” tape I have laying around my house is “T-Rex” tape…now, will this work? I realize its not “Duck” tape (the most popular or perhaps the original “Duct” tape), but I’m going to give it a go and report back in a week to let you know the results, if any………….so fun!
