Oranges don’t exist in nature?!? 😂 This sounds like a joke or a troll, like birds aren’t real…
According to an AI search “oranges do not exist in nature.”” They are a hybrid fruit that are the result of human cultivation and selective breeding.,” . I also think that Glucose Goddess makes a valid point that fruits that are naturally occurring like apples or grapes tend to be a lot less sweet and uniform than there cultivated counterparts . She makes a case that fruits are still a worthwhile choice because of their fiber content but should be consumed in moderation .
I think she is referring to how oranges have been developed over the years to be extra large and sweet. It is still not a strong argument but her assertion is less crazy then how it seems in the sound bite
They have been bred physically and genetically in labs to be a completely different fruit than the original. Citron was a very bitter fruit that was modified over centuries to creature the modern oranges
Oranges actually didn’t exist until humans created them! Oranges are a human-made hybrid between a Buddha’s hand and lemons. That being said, oranges (as botanical hybrids) being man-made means nothing about their nutritional value and sugar content. Oranges are indeed just like other fruits: they have sugar that is balanced with fiber and vitamins. ❤️
One thing I would say about Abby is that she sometimes cherry picks to make her point and takes things out of context . According to an AI search ” oranges do not exist in nature.”” They are a hybrid fruit that are the result of human cultivation and selective breeding,” Glucose Goddess also makes what I consider a valid point that fruit that does naturally occur in nature like grapes and apples tend to be a lot less sweet then there more cultivated counterparts.
Breastmilk is high in glucose. Breast fed babies are not overweight. It is as Abby says, too many calories is the problem. A lot of people don’t realize how many calories there are in foods that they consume every day. We are fat because we eat too much. (Barring medical conditions of course)
My doctor once told me people should stop striving for a flat line when it comes to blood sugar. You’re not dead, it’s normal to have highs and lows. Sure you want to flatten it a bit when you have insuline resistance, diabetes, etc. but this is just getting out of hand 🙄
Breastmilk babies can and do still get chunky absolutely
Breast fed babies are rapidly growing…
@Max_well135 my doc told me the same. People are getting paranoid
Abbey you look SO glamorous in this!
Thank you!!
Seconded! That dress/blouse is so gorgeous!
ABBEY, CAN YOU PLEASE CREATE A VIDEO ON THIS TOPIC?
saw a new article saying sugar alcohols may acutely stimulate a clot forming effect. concerns for cardiac disease risk.
study was done by Cleveland Clinic and published in: Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology.
thanks for your consideration!
Maybe it’s in her best interest to get her dietician certification.
Thank God. I was ready for someone to speak on this. As someone with actual insulin resistance, it’s kind of exhausting to hear every person talk about managing their blood sugar when they don’t need to?? Like your body already does that !
I’m sure your body was also able to do that until it wasn’t able to. Information is available to us to help us be PREVENTATIVE. What’s wrong with that?
As someone who also struggles with the same, I wish I had someone tell me ten years ago the steps I could take to help ease my burden now
❤️
@@AbbeysKitchenSure but some people act as if our blood sugar levels should be flat all the time when it’s possible at all. Even if you live off protein shakes
Idk I have a different experience. In the past I had a tendency to eat unhealthy foods and had an unhealthy relationship with sugar. I abused bad food for years and now, I’m healthy, eat well, and nowhere near even pre-diabetic, but I am more sensitive to fluctuations in my blood sugar and it’s the food I worry about. We are so inclined as a society to eat food that isn’t good for us. We are bombarded on a daily basis with every fast food and restaurant ad you can think of. Maybe it’s not a problem for everyone or even most people, but it’s hard to manage your blood sugar when there’s nothing but refined carbs and bad foods around. I’m all about living an 80/20 lifestyle and I’ve come to terms with never being perfect, but I do have to be mindful to regulate my foods. I lead a very active lifestyle and if I don’t plan my diet, I end up with low blood sugar. I am a normal healthy weight. Everyone responds to sugar differently and it’s somewhat psychological too. It acts on your brain like an addictive drug as well so there’s that too. I think a lot of people who are worried about this sort of thing have similar issues. Normal people don’t really have to worry I guess, but that was never me.
This glucose goddess is definitely wrong about sugar though. Fruit is good for you and so are complex carbs.
After 30, you have to be mindful of your health if you live in the US. I’m sorry I love abbey’s content and I don’t care if she says it’s “fear mongering”, the food here is absolute crap and so is the healthcare! Considering the latter, I would rather be safe than sorry when it comes to my blood sugar. Once you’re sick you’re screwed and if you can avoid it, I’m all for it. Not trying to one up you or sound like I know everything, I really don’t, just trying to offer another perspective on it. I hope you are managing okay and having a great weekend 🫶🏻
Yeah I tried her ordered eating thing, it made a small difference and it was so inconvenient I drove myself nuts timing and planning my meals. I’m type 2, and I find that the PFF anacronym works best for me, protein, fat, and fiber at every meal. The biggest surprise is how much exercise stabilizes my blood sugar.
Exercise really ? I wonder if it would do anything for type 1
@@peachysweet3157exercise uses up sugar/glucose. Type 1 is a balancing act of injecting the right amount versus input and output.
Type 2, if not on insulin or glucose dropping meds rarely has to be concerned about going too low as the body typically has some “don’t go too low” still working. Type 1 has no defence because all insulin is injected.
That’s the trouble, it’s more effort than it’s worth!
@@AbbeysKitchen I’m sorry? Keeping yourself alive without major complications is too much work? Type 1, 2 diabetes and insulin resistance have no simple fix.
I’d rather do the work than lose my sight, legs, arms, heartrate control, stomach control, kidney failure requiring dialysis and live in excruciating pain that the strongest pain relief meds don’t relieve – the list goes on.
It has officially become dangerously out of hand, the absolute zero barrier to entry to having a platform by which one can and 100% will state unequivocally false rhetoric as hard facts, and there will never be a lack of people with absolutely no critical thinking skills who just blindly eat it up and internalize it as gospel. When will we get to a point where content has to be porperly edified before even being posted? This sh*t is downright ridiculous.
I’m an academic doctor, and my undergrad degree is in biochemistry. Yes I understand how glucose works in both health and disease, and yes when I go to the medical doctor, I understand the blood or medical test results for the most part. HOWEVER, I’m nowhere near qualified to make any diagnosis or suggest medical treatments/lifestyle changes on anyone. I can tell when a blood sample I process in my research lab looks off (anemia is quite obvious and end stage liver disease causes a lot of lipids/fat to go into the blood), but I would always communicate that with the appropriate medical professionals I work with to properly look into what I have found.
85 DOLLARS FOR ONE BAG OF PROTEIN POWDER????!?!?!?!?!? EVEN $60 IS INNNNSANE! ARE YOU SERIOUS ABBEY? NO THNX.

Can’t stand glucose goddess. I find her condescending.
Love her…she makes sense, is science based…and is just French 😂
She makes my head spin. She should give advice for people who are not well off and need easy adjustment
The glucose spike fear is crazy to me! I waer a cgm ocassionally because I have chronic hypoglycemia and I need to check my diet is keeping my glucose up, especially as a runner. I do 2 weeks every 4-5 months or so. But the only option availible to me since I don’t have diabetes is those OTC cgms. They always label spikes even if I “spiked” from 71 to 130 after a meal. Which is totally normal. But they always give me this lecture on spikes. lol It happened like 3 times total. But weird.
I have this too. I’ve never used a monitor, though. I once told an ER nurse about having hypoglycemia and she acted like I was making things up or lying for attention. I was in the ER because I had a stomach virus that was making me throw up so badly I couldn’t even get honey under my tongue without vomiting, and I could feel I was on the verge of passing out. My now husband/then boyfriend was pissed that they wouldn’t listen to me.
Lol hypoglycemia is caused by high sugar carb diet..
It’s so weird because when I first came across Jessi’s content it was all the sensible tips. Even the order of foods thing she explicitly said, don’t split up your sandwich or anything just maybe add some veggies or a salad before you eat the sandwich.
I guess the short video format get super click baity but that was not my experience with her content to begin with
I find Jesse’s advice to people with extreme obesity misses the mark a little bit. Yes, those people do need some education on nutrition and her tips can be helpful, but I don’t think that really addresses the root of the problem. The root of the problem to me, seems more likely to be issues like emotional eating and binge eating disorder. That is what is really causing the wildly high calorie intakes. Not the fact that they ate their meal components in the wrong order. Or aren’t eating fiber. Yes, you can be overweight from poor nutrition knowledge, but you don’t get to the levels of morbid obesity without the emotional eating and binge eating component. Just giving nutrition advice will not give people the treatment they actually need and help with the complex problems these people deal with that are often the result of deeply painful life experiences.
I used to be a fan of glucose goddess until she said that because quinoa is a grain and therefore sugar it is a “treat” and not nutritious. Like girl quinoa is not a treat 🤣🤣
It’s loaded with protein. She sounds like a kook
Yes she only did one programme over here. When I saw she was doing the programme in the UK I didn’t watch it after seeing your videos. My mum is a doctor and nutritional specialist too.
When money and sales come in I don’t believe any advice. Than it is just marketing.
I feel better eating more carbs. I still try to pair them with fiber, fat and protein, but my overall macro breakdown is highest in carbs. I dont have much energy without them.
That’s how cocaine works too
You know what’s the most helpful if you have a clear diagnoses like type 2 diabetes? Working with a qualified nutritionist to come up with a plan tailored to your individual issues. I love your videos and they got me to a pretty good place. You give actually qualified general advice which is highly helpful. Then I got my diagnoses and am working with a qualified nutritionist for personalized advice and education because she can also take into account my other conditions. There’s no way for an online personality to know everything about me. And scaring me isn’t going to help no matter how qualified the advisor is.
