For the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with different veggie burger recipes. This is my conclusion: making a pretty good veggie burger is easy; making a great one is a lot harder. By “great one” I mean a veggie burger that isn’t too dry, doesn’t fall apart, isn’t too mushy in the middle, has a crispy outer shell, and retains a chewy texture. A pretty extensive list, I know.

I can’t tell you how many veggie burgers I’ve tried. It wasn’t until I made THIS recipe that I was finally satisfied with the results. This veggie burger not only tastes great, but it also holds really well on a grill. You can make these burgers either on a grill or on a skillet. The grill does provide a bit more blackening, but with the skillet you get a more evenly browned surface. So pick whichever method you prefer.

    Oh, good, another tasty recipe I discovered to try! I can say I enjoy the “taste test” as much as the recipe! You guys, as I’ve said several times, are SO CUTE! I have never been able to make a veggie burger that wasn’t desert dry….this may be the answer. I have all these ingredients just sitting around, so we’ll see. Thanks!

    I eat these types of burgers exclusively. I am vegan. I use oats instead of breadcrumbs and add in rice. Extra nutrition that way. Looks very yummy!

    Just found you! So beautifully done. My guy and I (seniors) are eating whole foods, plant based for a month, and I’m searching out new recipes. This looks great–I’ve already tried two others, which tasted ok, but nothing great and fell apart. (I made a cool dish by putting mashed sweet potato in a ring in a small bowl with the cooked burger pieces in the middle. So pretty, and the grandchildren liked it, I think because it looks so nice.) Can’t wait to make yours! (Feel the same about mayo–only with artichokes!) I’m sure we’ll like these, so I already subscribed. Thank you!

    Someone has commented that in Australia a slice of beetroot on your burger is a must. But another must is a pineapple ring as well, especially in Summer, just perfect.
