How Insulin Resistance Affects Your Weight Loss Journey

Thanks to LMNT for sponsoring this video! Head to to get your free sample pack with any drink mix or Sparkling cans purchase. Currently available in the US and Canada only.

Insulin resistance is a condition where the body’s cells become less responsive to insulin, a hormone responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. As a result, the pancreas produces more insulin to compensate, leading to chronically high insulin levels that significantly impact your weight loss efforts. This video explains what goes wrong and how to break the cycle.

Help me understand how giving diabetic patients insulin is the best approach to reversing their problem if it causes weight gain and ongoing inflammation? Seems like a vicious cycle and modern medicine might need a different approach perhaps??

    • @lisacrowley9564 says:

I stopped my Metformin and started eating only 3 low carb, unprocessed meals per day and my blood sugars are the best they’ve been in years.

    • @Laurie-BHFANDF says:

How long did it take? Are you out of diabetic range now?@@lisacrowley9564

    • @janeknight3597 says:

Depends if you are T1 or T2 to start with. If T2 then it’s worth not eating carbs, but if you are taking insulin you need to monitor so talk to your doc.

    • @sunbeltliving says:

Some ppl’s blood sugar is so high there is little choice. Insulin is often used nowadays as a last resort.

If you are prone to kidney stones, it is best to avoid them. Otherwise, they are found in nutrient-dense foods that are okay to consume.

Thank you for the straight forward guidance on insulin resistance, weight loss and blood/sugar/glucose relationships. I have already subscribed and have now supported 👍 🇦🇺 this video.
    — I am in my 75th year,
    — weigh about 105 kg (230 lbs), though I
    — would like to be 85 kg (190 lbs),
    — carry considerable visceral fat,
    — have difficulty with balance because of nerves in the back being compromised – three back operations that, I believe, have enabled me to remain independently mobile.
    — I use a staff to keep myself as upright as possible when walking into a shop and other short distances, and
    — can still ride a bicycle, though
    — walking as much as 40 ft is difficult.

Exercise, weight, Inflammation, are issues that I believe I need to address.
Hoping that the details given do not contravene guidelines, but will know soon enough via the YT comments web page.

If I eat dessert once a month…does it affect my insulin resistency?

  • @christag3051 says:

I purchased your Zero Sugar/One Month book. Loved how your chapters take us through 1 day at a time. I ended up turning it into a no added sugar challenge for 100 days! out of the 100 days i had sugar 10 of the days. I have never done that before, I lost 15 lbs and felt so much better. My organs felt like they were thanking me lol I really learned to enjoy fruit for dessert the chocolate lmnt helped along the way for that chocolate something. My perferred way of eating now is whole foods! Thank you Dr Becky from Christa in NH
