To follow a carnivore diet in its truest sense, you only eat animal meats and fats. Those who practice it report weight loss, blood sugar stability, more energy, better mental focus, and the list goes on.

A criticism of the diet is that it lacks research, leading to the question, “How does staying on this diet affect long-term health?”

I agree that there are benefits, and I agree that we won’t know the full health story until more substantial studies have been done. So, I thought, what would happen if I added a few days of carnivore a month to my typical low-carb diet? In other words, practice carnivore intermittently. And what I am calling intermittent carnivore was born.

    very interesting

Hmm. Gives me the idea that I should do intermittent keto instead. I enjoy a few carbs too much to give them up entirely, even for a few days, but I could do 3 days of keto a month, and low carb for the rest as usual. Wondering if 2 days a week of keto would be beneficial.

  • @emk-69 says:

I’m liking this idea… carnivore is hard work plus the diarrhoea isn’t helping me at all. So i am now doing Low Oxalate/ Keto & carnivore. Doesn’t celtic salt in water help for magnesium etc?

  • @sanautin says:

If this is “Intermittent Carnivore” than I’ve been an intermittent carnivore for more than a year now. My eating schedule:
    Monday: All day fast
    Tuesday: BBBE
    Wednesday: Carnivore
    Thursday: Carnivore
Friday: OMAD / Ketovore – less than 10 grams of carbs
Saturday and Sunday: Keto – less than 20 grams of crabs
I do drink coffee, so I’m with you on that….but I wouldn’t touch that “protein shake” with a 10 foot pole. And depending on what the fillers are in the crab cake; I’d probably not have those either. There’s just SO MUCH other meat I’d rather have instead.

      What’s bbbe?

    • @elainef639 says:

      I looked it up
Beef, butter, bacon and eggs — or BBBE, as Dr. Berry has coined it — is a shortcut version of the increasingly popular carnivore diet. Like a traditional keto diet, it works by replacing carb-rich foods with protein and fat

    • @sanautin says:

@@elainef639 Exactly right, and Dr Berry picked those foods because they have a 1 to 1 fat to protein ratio.

  • @KeithOutWest says:

I really like your idea. I’m a week into carnivore and already feeling burned out by the monotony. Intermittent seems very doable with a keto base diet. Thanks! ❤

    • @LauraB.335 says:

Yep, I find when I try to stick to carnivore, it becomes easier for me to binge on junk food, but there are definitely days all I want is a big ground beef bowl or a ribeye steak and eggs and that’s it. So, sometimes, I’ll eat carnivore. Other days, I add salad with olives and green goddess dressing, walnuts, and Brussels sprouts.

I can’t tell you how impressed I am by your change in timing for your sponsorships – that’s super!!

  • @wjack4728 says:

I tried carnivore for two weeks. Lost weight fast, so much I was afraid of loosing too much weight. I also got a rush in my brain, almost euphoric, felt good. Couldn’t stick with it long term, but your idea of intermittent carnivore sounds good to me.

  • @annamarielohia8291 says:

Greetings fm kathmandu nepal. I follow these diets n do 48 hrs fasting per week. But im stress as to how im going to get my b1. Which foods sud i take.apart fm nutritional yeast. Sud i incorporate twice a week rice n lentils. Will this help. Just now im on 3 eggs wit a big bowl of salad leafy greens mixed wit avacado n cucumber n chicken mix wit olive oil..i eat chicken fish n eggs. No red meat.

  • @BillDeWitt says:

I’ve done long term carnivore several times, once for two years, and the main thing I found is that you get used to not needing all the extras. But they come back fast. Variety is a drug like so many other things. I can have none, or I go overboard. Usually takes me about a month to get over craving variety.

  • @SUGPIAQBARBIE says:

I like to have all my eating done by 4pm. I find it keeps me from snacking. Discipline is the only magic. Crab cakes yum! I miss beach food! Use to go clamming and crabbing with my mom!

  • @MiaSonoma says:

I love how through ur videos are so that I completely understand. I like ur carnivore cycling idea – I think id be great for the kind of joint pain inflammation u get after doing alot of non typical physical work like moving…or cleaning out the garage 🤗

  • @angelagaare says:

You are forgiven for your sins. Especially the coffee one. If you said you gave up coffee on these days, I would feel betrayed. Otherwise, interesting. Not as restrictive as some of the other “protein days” I have seen. Glad to have it in the tool kit! Thanks for all you do!

  • @MThomas001 says:

Nice work. One commenter hit it perfect, Discipline is the magic. Eating like this is perfect for clearing the junk out of your system. Thank you for putting this out.
