Next fad: eat animal bones to prevent osteoporosis.

  • @JWSedona says:

I’ve been plant based since 2011. McDougaller primarily but eating more raw food now. In 2021 (before getting covid) my hair started falling out. It had been thinning gradually since I changed my diet and my hormones declined but by 2021 it was much thinner and then was coming out in handfuls. I had the opportunity to speak to Dr. Barnard. I let him know I had started taking collagen peptides and I got my bottom eyelash hair back. That’s when he said I must not have been getting enough protein. Brenda Davis speaks about older ladies with hair loss & thin skin caused by a pb diet which is too low in protein. I’m convinced the collagen peptides boosted my overall protein intake & has been a benefit. Being bald is ok for men but we women react very differently to hair loss. I’ve also added gelatin to my diet a few times per week. I make it with prune or grape juice. I am eating a big bowl of lentil soup each day for lunch. My hair has stopped falling out, it’s longer & thicker now. In addition to collagen and gelatin, I also now take msm.

I was leaning WFPB and at one point was 95 percent. But as a 71 year old woman with osteoporosis I find it important to get more protein than most wfpb gurus recommend, particularly the late Dr. McDougall. I eat tempeh and beans daily and add pea protein to my steel cut oats, but I now include some collagen powder as well as kefir, egg whites and some salmon. Vegan practitioners who are objective about health (such as Simon Hill and Dr. Gill Carvalho) say that plant exclusive diets have not been proven to be superior to plant predominant diets .

  • @thomastoadally says:

    Bone Broth.

  • @redauwg911 says:

So sweet potatoes and broccoli are the best…

  • @MISSYMINX261 says:

Vedge nutrition just released a vegan collagen made from broccoli and carrots. What are your thoughts?

    • @amir3515 says:

Dr. Greger has always said the whole food is better. Just eat broccoli and carrots instead of looking for some miracle pill false promises designed to get your money

    • @k.h.6991 says:

It would still not contain Tryptophan. So, no. If you think you’re protein deficient, go for pea protein or something.
