I had glucosamine for 6 months for my knees and didnt work….

  • @АдлАдл-з7г says:

Plus my suppliment was organic that contained turmeric. I m strengthening my quads now to prevent further cartilage degeneration. I hope it works.

  • @ceeemm1901 says:

Do yoga and walk..and drink water

  • @ilp694 says:

    so it’s not working…..unfortunately

  • @jeanneamato8278 says:

Shots for my knees just made them worse. Also made my skin very thin. I take CBD. works better. Not all the time tho.

  • @teresapool7594 says:

I would love to see curcumin supplements added to this list

  • @observingsystem says:

I’ve had osteoarthritis in my knee since I was 16, from a traffic accident. People have told me to use glucosamine over the years, but I never wanted to take it because at first it was all made from shark cartilege. Ironically now I realize that the fact I care about animals made me not take a supplement that might have made my knee worse.
What I’ve found is when I went whole food plant based (I went vegetarian 20 years ago, vegan 12 years ago and wfpb 7 years ago) I got less inflammation in my knee and especially less cystes and that makes a world of difference in the amount of pain. Also, I have more energy, I sleep better, I have better mental health. It doesn’t solve it, but the overall improvement is significant. Wish someone would have told me earlier, instead of me having to find it out for myself 20 years later, but better late than never, right? And thank you for putting me on that path, Dr. Greger!

    • @jeannamcgregor9967 says:

Me too: less knee and elbow pain than 40 years ago when I first went to a doctor for arthritis advice after changing to a (primarily) whole food plant-based diet. Less lower back pain too! Dr. Greger rocks.

      Have you tried acupuncture?

Daily exercise is key to as healthy life. Ride a bicycle to school, work or for fun.
Riding a bicycle is a great way to exercise. Ebikes are bringing many older adults back to cycling.
Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan. Be healthier and happier. Ride a bicycle regularly.
Make a bicycle your transportation option for short distance travel.

  • @KJSvitko says:

Most elderly people have problems getting up off the floor. As a child you spend a lot of time on the floor, adults do not.
Doing yoga / stretching exercises on the floor can improve balance, mobility, flexibility and the ability to get up and down..
Just getting up and down to the floor in a controlled manner is difficult for many older adults.
Play with your children on the floor. Bend over, get down and pull weeds in your garden. Play with a pet on the floor.
The more effort you make to work on balance and flexibility will pay dividends as you age.

  • @KJSvitko says:

Glucosamine and chondroitin worked for me. It takes a while to work. It is not like aspirin that works right away. The longer your take it the better it works.

    • @xcast1 says:

Your other comments indicate you did exercise as well, and probably changed to healthier lifestyle overall – which has known effects. So your assertion here may be dubious when no clean separation of measures.
