With Science & Sass,
Xoxo Abbey 🌸
How disgusting. She is a gorgeous girl. Her tears are heartbreaking. That journalist should be absolutely ashamed.
I clicked on Description to get more information about this storyline but all I got was a long list of promotional information about Abbey’s products.
Some balance would have been nice.
Poor Gemma 😢 i feel so bad for her and all the other women who went through this
Shame is optional. I get that many women define themselves by their looks, but just because someone says/writes “you’re fat” you don’t have to be ashamed. By taking this stuff so seriously we’re basically MAKING ourselves less resilient. People are rude, you’re strong, you can get over it. 🤷🏻♀️
Imagine being such a horrible person that you victim blame. There are tons of studies around bullying. There’s a lot of research showing how it affects peoples mental health. Shutting up costs you no money and you can pretend like you’re not a horrible person.
What a way to victim blame! Highly recommend taking a lesson in empathy and compassion here.
So you’re saying that she was fat…. You’re no better than that tabloids…You should be ashamed
No, I didn’t say anyone was fat. No, I’m not ashamed. I think we’re creating generations of weak people with this coddling. For the confused ones, please reread what I ACTUALLY wrote. 🤷🏻♀️
I think it’s way more nuanced than that. Yes, I actually do agree that it’s necessary and healthy to find a balance within yourself that doesn’t depend on others’ opinions of you, but no matter how resilient you are, if you are active in an industry that perpetuates impossible body standards and practices public shaming, you will still be affected by that. Making peace with yourself and not being overly dependent on others for your inner balance is a wonderful (and difficult) life skill, but that still doesn’t mean that the modelling industry isn’t a toxic environment for everyone in it, and doesn’t deserve to be called out for that. Both things can be true.
I was dangerously under weight my whole life. When I became an adult I caught up and have been midsized ever since. I’m shocked at 40 how I’m a mid size and some will say I’m fat…not my doctors, not science, but some. And that shocks me because it like we are going back to beauty standards we know are toxic. If you think a 40 year old NAWA woman should be a size 2…you might have an eaten disorder. But someone once told me don’t make someone else’s mental illness your own. So those people I pray find healing, but I’m not going back…
I still don’t think the modelling industry truly wants to embrace bigger sizes. Most of the “plus sized models” aren’t plus sized at all they’re just not size 0 and I even recently read that Bella Hadid was too big for Yves Saint Laurent until her latest runway (this is non-confirmed news as I couldn’t find any article backing this claim). In general, plus sized models are mere tokenism for these shows and they aren’t even plus sized, they’re just slightly more “plus” than the abysmal industry standard.
Just a viewer request – can you not publish the videos sped up? We can do that on our own if we want to. I don’t watch my videos sped up and I basically understood nothing she said.
I think it’s because there’s a time limit for YouTube shorts (1 min or so). This was probably originally a TikTok (where there’s a much longer limit) that she uploaded to YouTube afterwards so she had to speed it up to make fit into 1 minute
Yes, it’s because shorts can only be 60 seconds long. But I agree that it’s jarring and unpleasant to listen to, and would suggest that if there is too much to say to fit it into 60 seconds without speeding it up like this, it deserves a longer video.
must be TERRIBLE for her. now imagine us facing it and the worse without the elite talking about us but the shitty teacher next door 🎉
Nah, nothing changed. I’ve been following the beautiful Maddie White and the designer stuff they send her to wear is so damn small. It makes you realize the models before were even smaller than her.
Am I the only one bothered by the speeding up of the video?
No you are not. I was looking for this. My little neurodivergent brain couldn’t focus on the message at all it was messing with my eyes and I kept having to start it over.
Too fast how do u even understand what’s she saying lmao
So many child stars have talked about this, it makes me so sad! Selena Gomez, Alyson stoner, Demi lovato, Taylor Lautner! All of them grew up in the spotlight and to this day are getting compared to their YOUNG TEENAGE bodies!
Yeah I have a hard enough time not comparing my own body to my teenage one (which is part of my ED and something o actively work on) so I can’t imagine having the whole world doing it as well. It’s super toxic but it also sounds like a lot of projection from people.
Is this video fast forwarded or are we putting a little coca leaf in our proats these days?
This video is unwatchable with the sped up chipmunk voices. If you and your team can’t figure out how to make a short properly, just don’t make them.
From my experience, even when you’re not a model, people can’t tolerate change. People want to maintain a certain image of you. If you were shy and overcome this people are shocked and call you masculine.
Something similar happened to Mischa Barton
It’s not a natural error. It’s wonderful
