  • Abdelilah BENAHMED says:

Take your omega 3 through not problemanic and expensive supplementation but through whole food , 4 times a week like SIIM , and preferably most days of the week, fresh small fatty fish prepared and cooked with spices, herbs and genuine olive oil at home, like most mediterranean populations , like Morocco, Spain or Italy.

Is there any reason not to take algae oil instead?
I mean you get the same molecules whiles staying away from heavy metals and micro plastics(because the algae is usually not farmed but grown).
It usually also has a lower Totox value (the average oxidation of the fatty acids).

  • Kent Purdy says:

would be interesting to know if any agency evaluates algae oil

  • MadChrisLifts says:

Wow 50 percent reduction in stroke and neurodegeneration? Thats very signifvant

  • okokokokokok69 says:

    Hi Siim

Do you take omega 3 supplement everyday or only the days you don’t eat fish?

  • viktor tikka says:

You know you could have links to the studies so we can read them also

  • Cat Man Do says:

Thanks for the info, Siim! I just switched by brand to an IFOS certified, triglyceride form of omega-3 fish oil at no extra cost.

  • T Kenz says:

Estonian Ecosh brand aren’t they good enough?

  • Eduardo Augusto Silvestre says:

FISH OIL in the refrigerator…quite interesting
    i’ll do that today

  • P Jaworek says:

Rancid fish oil would be obvious, unbearable. I tested oil rancidity for 20 years.

  • P Anagenesis says:

In his seminal work, “The Omega Rx Zone”, biochemist Dr. Barry Sears advocated for low-glycemic diet, with adequate protein intake, reduction of inflammatory Omega-6 fatty acids, and supplementation of Omega-3’s through pharmaceutical-grade fish oil.

  • cc says:

I eat canned cod liver on toast with some arugula and mustard and salt/pepper. It’s like 18g Omegas so if you eat 1-2x per week that’s translates roughly to 2-4g daily. I also eat sardines nearly daily which is also high omega and low mercury. So I’m getting around 5g+ on a daily basis while not spending extra on supplements, and getting the added protein and other minerals/vitamins from cod and sardines. I feel pretty great, and have been able to bounce back from months of daily drinking/smoking without too much pain. I think cause omegas lower brain inflammation that causes cravings for alcohol 🤷🏾‍♀️

  • LKP Nda says:

Perfect timing I just gor my 2nd results from omega wuant, in the summer i was at 5.8 even though I ate fish 3/4 times a week wild salmon and sardines, but I started adding liquid dha and hogh epa and today got my results. Now Iʻm in Desiersble range at 10.2 overal all and perfect rsnge omega 6:3 ratiosn and the others. Thank godness. I was just ate dish 2-3 times a week and just ipped my supplement intake which is easier and cheaper by far because I can only eat so much fish even though I love it I get fished out 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 I up it during luteal phase and eat sardines 1-2 times a week splitting the one can during luteal phase but let’s be real no matter how I doctor it up sardines are less than desirable but I need the calcium in the edible bones sardines I use.

  • Radiant Rabbit says:

Is algae much healthier than fish? They eat algae, so it’s going direct to source and avoiding metals/plastics in fish.

  • JoeyWhiteComedy says:

Slight mistake in there… Big difference between Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) and Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA). 🙂

  • Let me say this!!!! says:

everyone has been saying that fish oil doesn’t raise the aha levels

  • Health Research Now says:

Hi @Siim do we need to be concerned about whether the DHA is free form or Lyso form? How big of a deal is this difference, and do you know if the studies were based on the consumption of free form or lyso form DHA? Thank you!

  • Majic Freeman says:

Eating fish once or twice a week is still nowhere near taking 2 grams of epa and dha whether 2 grams each or 1 gram each.
I try to eat sardines about 5 times a week or so personally.

  • MaybeTogether says:

Hey Siim do you ship herbatonin all the way from the US to you through border control? For me this would probably double the costs of it

  • Colossusssss says:

Thank you for this overwiew. Algea oil (Schizochytrium sp.) also contains Omega 3 EPA/DHA. Wonderin why you didn’t mention.
