In this video I share some high protein plant based meals that I am eating to help me lose a few extra pounds. I am happy with my physique but over the winter I have definitely gained some unwanted weight around my midsection. Summer is still a few months away, but being a natural lifter and wanting to maintain as much muscle as possible, I need a few months to reach my goals.

Long time follower here, I don’t comment much but just wanted to say THANK YOU for being you and being so positive and inspiring. Keep up the amazing work as always, you’re hands down my favorite YouTuber!
Thanks so much! that means a lot to me and I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching too 😀
Potatoes are also the most satiating of all foods, apparently. Seen it on the internet.
I bet that quick asparagus snaps shot could be used in a song or something lol
I see you are using what I affectionately call cheater garlic. I have a tip that gives you the convenience but lasts longer and tastes better. Costco sells bags of whole garlic, which I mince in large batches in a food processor and put in silicone cube shaped ice cube trays. Once frozen, you can put them in a container in the freezer and they are perfect for popping into soups, stir fries and anything where you need garlic. If the cube is too much for your recipe, just defrost in the microwave long enough so you can cut off what you need and put the rest back in the freezer. I freeze some whole garlic too for roasting. This way the garlic lasts longer and tastes fresher. You will need to have ice trays dedicated for this purpose because they will forever smell like garlic, but it is worth it.
This is perfect I do the same but use whole bulbs and break them down. I like your idea even better of getting it in bulk from Costco ready to be processed. 👍
Great tip. Bottled garlic always tastes bitter to me.

Dammit! Just when I was getting excited about my muscles starting to show and develop, here comes Derek stealing my thunder 😂. No seriously, I would like for Derek to get as big as possible to inspire younger kids you can get big without meat 🦇 💜 👊🏽
This vid is EXACTLY what I need right now, the food and the getting moving and most especially the very mod approach to trimming down and leaning out a bit. Last time I did this (2023) I dropped 40 lbs (from 190 down to 152 in 4 months) and even built some muscle but was so miserable and I haven’t even been able to think of anything “trimish” since I brought my calories back up (fall, 2022).I’m 194 now, feeling a ton better and sleeping well and stronger but have no abs : (
Hey Derek and Crystal…. greetings from Northern Minnesota again. Another great video, thanks for sharing. Love the different ideas!
Potatoes are great for weight loss, go read “The Starch Solution “
And it’s not the potato that’s bad for you, it’s how you cook it and the stuff that is put on it that makes you fat.: deep frying it in lard, putting bacon, sour cream and other junk, etc.
some great tips in here I also employ, Derek! I make sure to finish eating before sundown and I also brush my teeth shortly after so I am not tempted into any late-night snacking!
That’s a great tip! Thanks for sharing.
Once you cook the potatoes and let them cool, you can reheat them ..for resistant starch…you don’t have to eat your potatoes 🥶 cold
Good to know, I was wondering that!
D-Man, he only problem I have with your video is that, it release on my midnight haha! But at this time I need a lot of weight loss for cosplay and some inspiration to have good vegan stuff again.
You and Crystal are such an inspiration! Excellent tips for cutting back the fat and keeping the meals filling and healthy. 👏😍Thanks💚💚
Thanks for all your amazing content!!! I love your mushroom tee also
I’m with you on his mushroom t-shirt 😍 loved it!
Wow dude you’re absolutely jacked! Good work
Chilling carbs ( potatoes rice oatmeal etc) overnight turns them into resistant starches. Can be reheated without losing nutritional values and remain a resistant starch. Definitely going to try potato tofu egg salad when it gets too hot to cook. Good video Derek
🤗 Thank you for sharing valuable insights and tips! Always so helpful. Another thing, I’m not a fan of paid promotions in the videos, but I greatly appreciate that you included a timestamp for it, so it’s possible to skip it without missing anything from your awesome video ♥
We still have 4 feet of snow in Ontario, jealous of your hike! Thanks for the inspiration 😊
I love your videos and have done so for many years already. I have also the feeling you are one of the few youtubers that kept his quality consistently up during the years! all of your videos are so inspirational and have such great content! please always keep doing what you doing!🥰
regarding chilled potatoes and resistant starch – you don’t need to eat them chilled! you can cook them, cool them, and reheat – and they still retain their resistant starch. btw, same is true for pasta! thanks for another great video 🙂
