Epigenetic Clocks for Testing Your Biological Age

Epigenetic clocks have become established as robust measures of chronological age, surpassing telomere length as the best age predictor. In addition to predicting time-to-death, epigenetic clocks also appear to foretell healthspan indicators, such as cognitive decline, frailty, arthritis, and the progression of diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

What are telomeres? See What to Eat to Prevent Telomere Shortening ( ).

Can you recommend a testing service for epigenetic? Do you think all are trustworthy?

    • @egris00 says:

Dr Greger never actually recommends services or products. The only few times he’s ever mentioned brand names was when they were included into the trial data he’s reporting on. This is how he can stay completely transparent and above board.

Thanks Michael! I have just received ‘How not to Age’ and having just got started I already feel this is a great book. I have downloaded the App which at first glance looks good too. Combined with your YT channel you’ve hit a Home Run in my opinion.
    Thanks again

Another great video from the good Doctor Greger but whats with all the bot comments? 🤔

    • @xperience-evolution says:

It’s a problem of Youtube. Every Video has it. And when you are early you will see them.

    • @KissyKat says:

Probably not as many bots as it seems. I have made many comments simply saying “great video!” or “really liked this” and folks would reply saying i was a bot. Which made me feel bad. I’m no bot, maybe just a bit unimaginative sometimes guess 😂

    • @skeletorthegentleman6603 says:

@@KissyKat I can see where you’re coming from and a generic “great video” is one thing. However I’m referring to the 5 ones at the bottom that clearly don’t fit. Aside from standing out they look to be cut from the same cloth so to speak in how they’re constructed. 🤔

    • @KissyKat says:

@@skeletorthegentleman6603 You know after I made my reply to your comment I googled why bots were bad. That was eye opening. Not sure how YouTube can weed them out.But i’m glad they’re trying.

  • @georgebmac8140 says:

We measure age on mental and physical debility -which is primarily determined by lifestyle. Weak muscles for instance are mostly the result of either lack of use or neurologic trauma from injury or stroke.

  • @CRM-114 says:

    This is old news.

  • @KJSvitko says:

    How reliable are they ?

  • @watchdominion00 says:

Just finished reading the copy of How not to Age you signed for me at Vegan Campout. I learned so much and am super motivated to implement this knowledge! Thank you so much for your invaluable work making this lifestyle science accessible for the layperson. I don’t think people appreciate how hard that could be, and how well you execute it in your books. Really fantastic stuff ❤❤
