Something about boiled eggs, I’ve never really liked them ever. Also if I eat eggs I have to eat it with bread, always!

  • Will Cresson says:

Most people overcook the hell out of their eggs, which creates more sulphuric compounds which is what makes you nauseated (and is responsible for the characteristic smell). Going for a firm medium boil instead of a hard boil helps a lot. Less likely to make you gassy, too.

    • Gello says:

Also a lot of these people just eating bland hard boiled eggs. Egg salad, hard eggs on toast etc are all wonderful and aren’t just a little ball of sulfurous high cholesterol

    • Gee says:

I’m a “super taster” and the sulfur in boiled eggs is horrendous. when we had hard boiled eggs for school lunch i would stick them in my sock and trash them in the bathroom. its the only thing i really can’t stomach other than bitter greens.

    • Angela Wildman says:

I boil my eggs for just 6 minutes and they come out slightly undercooked and perfect. Not into fully hard-boiled eggs at all.

  • Zoe Rose dePaz says:

Both me and my sister have had this our whole lives; we call it the “egg quota”. I literally can eat maybe 1.5 eggs before I start feeling nauseous and icky. 2 eggs and I want to hurl. One day I went to an allergist for my seasonal allergies and he causally stated, “oh and you might have an egg allergy too”. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

    • TheGPFilmMaker says:

I’m allergic to dairy/gluten/soy and so it took me a REALLY long time to realize I was also allergic to egg. I kept thinking I accidentally got something cross contaminated. Then I had a couple incidents of safely cooking eggs and home and still getting sick and I realized that it was actually the egg itself!!

    • Fiig says:

Same! I made a 3 egg omelette. Gross. Made myself a 2 egg omelette the next day, I was totally fine

  • Jae E says:

    I still love eggs 🍳🤣

  • chelsea kunz says:

I think I’m immune to egg ick because eggs are easily my favorite food, but I refuse to eat them hard boiled

  • Bethany Prenevost says:

I always find it slightly frustrating when an aversion to something becomes trendy because when that happens, all of the sudden, anybody who enjoys that thing gets all this vitriol directed at them for literally no reason.

    • Lily says:

If people don’t like eggs, they don’t like eggs. It’s not being “trendy”. You can eat whatever the hell you like.

  • autumn h says:

no but the egg ick is actually so real. i love 1 or 2 scrambled but i can’t eat them alone and after a bit i have to be done.

  • Diana1984 says:

Interesting, I can eat several eggs without getting sick of them. But I also don’t overcook my eggs…

  • Aleister Lily White says:

I can’t eat eggs if I think about them too much. I don’t think it’s really the smell, just the concept grosses me out.

  • Nereida Lopez says:

    I love eggs ❤

  • Tova Holmberger says:

I recognize that though, but my very simple solution is just to add something acidic, like ketchup or drizzle a bit of Worcestershire sauce to fried eggs, and ofc add something salty to boiled eggs. In Sweden the classic is a specific caviar topping we have

  • instantsiv says:

I’m egg intolerant. The severe digestive issues eggs cause me make other people nauseous.

  • em09 says:

I remember this happening as a kid. Sometimes just the smell of eggs would turn my belly, other days it was delicious. I absolutely love eggs but I try to eat them along side other things to prevent wanting to yak lmao

  • caughtupinthewaves | Lina Jasmin says:

My grandma used to say that eggs stink. She never liked them & only used eggs in Recipes. But she had her own Chickens & loved them! Grandma allegedly got the Egg ick in 68-71 during one of her pregnancies.

  • wendie dox says:

I have always had it if I see egg yolk and white mixed together I can only eat scrambled eggs if they are beaten, so well, there is no trace of white and usually strained… If a yellow and white blob appears on my plate at a restaurant or anywhere else I cannot touch it

  • Cacao_ says:

Actually, I grew up eating eggs every day (along with other things) for breakfast due to my parents’ lifestyle, so I don’t really get the ick. Also, asians are super creative with eggs. We also include eggs sometimes in other meals and I could eat nothing but hardboiled eggs every day lol.

  • astryd lee says:

I’ve always had egg ick! Cant eat them in the morning, cant eat boiled eggs because the yolk seperate is too strong, makes me nauseas!

  • Miranda Felix says:

This phenomenon is pretty common with us ADHD people. We hyperfixate on a food, can’t get enough of it, sometimes for ages. And then one day, bam, ICK. Absolutely cannot even consider eating that thing. (Of course, this happens right after you’ve bought a Costco size container of said item.) And the more you hyperfixated to begin with, the longer the aversion can last.

  • Ambzf says:

I can eat (and somewhat enjoy) a warm freshly boiled egg, but when I boil them ahead of time for meal prep and put them in the fridge, I get the egg ick. Sometimes I have to chop them up, add Greek yoghurt and curry powder to made them more palatable.

  • Maddy Harvey says:

I’ve eaten eggs nearly everyday for YEARS. Sometimes they don’t sit right lol, but I find the main issue is overcooking them.
