Does Metformin Work as a Life-Extension Drug?

Amazingly, diabetics placed on metformin may live longer lives than those who never got diabetes in the first place. How does it work?

This is the third video in a five-part series. If you missed the first two, see Naturally Boosting AMPK with Caloric Restriction for Life Extension ( ) and Naturally Boosting AMPK with Exercise for Life Extension ( ).

Stay tuned for Side Effects of Metformin as a Life-Extension Drug ( ) and The TAME Trial: Targeting Aging with Metformin ( ).

AMPK is one of the anti-aging pathways I highlight in my longevity book, How Not to Age ( ), available in print, e-book, and audio. (All proceeds I receive from the book are donated directly to charity.)

bro why not just upload these video… like i can find them for free on the website anyway… what’s the point… also i would have preferred the double 600 pages book option instead of videos… my mom is old and doesn’t know how a computer work i wanted to gift her the book once is released in italian but now i can’t since she won’t ever be able to open and watch youtube videos…

    • @smonster says:

then make a playlist with these videos in it and…help her out?

    • @ATT935 says:

      no… that’s braindead… she won’t watch videos @@smonster

    • @user-ds3tk1dc9p says:

The book is still rich and sufficient enough in information as it is. Your mom won’t lack any of the necessary information without the videos.

    • @OfficialAlgathonix says:

If you read the book you know why he did this. The publisher didn’t accept more pages because it costs too much to manufacture. He had to work around this by putting some things in video’s or the references to a QR code.

  • @tallwaters9708 says:

Where is the followup to this? I can’t find it anywhere,

  • @Scrumptious-b2q says:

I am not diabetic, I am in my 30s and eat a healthy WFPB diet, in good shape. I took low dose metformin for several months for anti-aging effects, and it made me feel awful. Felt like I had low blood sugar, tired all the time. I think metformin doesn’t help if you’re very healthy, or it isn’t necessary.

  • @peanutnutter1 says:

The studies were flawed as they omitted certain people from the stats that were failing, I can’t remember the exact details but it made it appear that diabetics that took metformin lived longer, they didn’t.

  • @TheU2now says:

I am no longer a diabetic but I still take Metformin every night . I decide to stay put with Metformin after I reversed my diabetes. Good or bad ?
