Thanks to LMNT for sponsoring this video! Head to to get your free sample pack with any purchase.

It’s time for a raw, real life update – hair loss, chronic stress, post-viral nausea, weight loss, and more. In this video, I’m opening up about everything I’ve been through over the past 6 months—from stress-induced hair loss to dealing with an endless wave of illness including COVID, the flu, and food poisoning. I’m also talking about how that all impacted my appetite, weight, and energy levels. On top of that, I’ve got some big personal reflections to share, including the return of my SIBO and what I’m doing now to take care of myself. This is a deeply personal video that I hope resonates with anyone who’s struggled silently. Thanks for being here.

I’m so sorry about what you’ve been through Abby…
I wish u the best! Really!
You helped me a lot (as a registered dietitian and someone with bad relationship with food), and I hope you are better 🥹

I am heartbroken for Abbey with her switch from espresso to matcha. She has always said we should all unabashedly allow our coffee order, whatever it is. Though I can understand the need to switch it up to physically feel better for herself. I hope she eventually finds enjoyment with the switch.

I’ve just been realising that I might have sibo and out hot me like a train just today how hard it is to get better from and I’m devastated. Great timing. Can’t listen now but will come back.

  • @maya6476 says:

I know what it’s like to be physically and mentally unwell and have people praise you for losing weight. It always upset me. I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with all of this. I hope your physical & mental health start to improve quickly.

  • @texasdazzlers says:

Thank you for mentioning how we shouldn’t automatically compliment weight loss. The weight has been flying off of me for the past three years as I’ve dealt with horrific health issues, and I’ve struggled to eat enough calories to stay at a healthy weight. People know I’m sick…and they still tell me how great I look. 😐 Even when I try to enlighten them by saying something like “Unfortunately it’s not positive weight loss” or “Thanks! I feel like death”, many of them – especially other women – double down by saying “Well, that’s one positive to being sick I guess! Hehehehe” No, it’s not. There is nothing positive about being chronically ill. Not one thing. I miss being chubbier and healthy.

I would feel a lot better about this video if it didn’t come across as an ad for your supplements. The banner at the bottom left the entire time is not helping dissuade me 🤔

  • @newhouseb7 says:

I actually had someone praise my dog, for being slim. He was actually desperately ill. 🤦‍♀️

  • @miguel9070 says:

I’m so sorry to hear what you been going through, Abbey! I hope you heal fast 🙏🏻

  • @sarahbarber8780 says:

I’m so sorry that you’re feeling this way! I love you and your content so much. I hope things get better soon. ❤

  • @jonap5740 says:

That was really interesting, Abbey. I am sorry you went through all that, and I absolutely applaud your effort and work to regain better health. I lost a lot of hair right before a bad health diagnosis, probably due to stress. And I completely understand the gut problems, but from the point of view of having had candida. Helpful MD in TO saved me. Knew his stuff. I am lucky. Stay strong, Abbey, you have wonderful knowledge to share with us.

Matcha tips – get an actual matcha set! One that at least comes with the matcha whisk and the bowl. You want to whisk the matcha in hot water or milk until it’s foamy (I microwave about 2-3 ounces of water for 40 seconds). Then you can add it to the rest of your milk! Personally, I prefer it iced and I also add a little bit of lavender syrup, it tastes like fruit loops!!

  • @annabutler2198 says:

I also suffer from SIBO. Bloating and insomnia is so difficult. Thanks for sharing your journey

  • @queenieellie says:

Thank you for showing up. We appreciate you.

  • @kellyjohnson461 says:

The sickness this year was SO BAD, you were definitely not alone. I am SO HAPPY you are getting to a better place❤

  • @tsindetane4936 says:

About a month ago, I tested positive for Covid for the first time in my life. I was nauseated for a month so I can relate. Just walking into the grocery store would trigger my nausea or just looking at food. Thankfully, my smell and taste came back. Sending you positive vibes!

  • @marissa3016 says:

Hey Abbey, I’ve been a huge fan for years. I don’t usually comment, but your question about matcha is well within my scope of practice as a barista. Especially since I had to learn to like matcha in order to manage my GAD.
    Suggestions:
    – Try different milks, it can impact the flavor quite a bit. Oat milk is my go to, but you do you.
    – Brands: Jade Leaf cafe blend is the preferred brand the coffee shop I work at uses, and I can confirm, it’s delicious.
    -Syrups and other flavour factors:
    1) Someone already suggested lavender syrup. Delish.
    2) I usually go for a bit of vanilla syrup or even some vanilla extract to smooth it out a bit because I’m not a huge fan of how… edgey? bitter? just… green? matcha tastes.
    3) Strawberry is also a solid option and if you want to really go wild, combine all of them together for some fun. Heads up, it will be the most disgusting colour, but it’s tasty, tasty.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I had chronic SIBO and then found out the root cause was mold exposure/toxicity. Once I got out (temporarily) my symptoms improved significantly and then came roaring back once I was in mold again. Just wanted to throw it out there, not trying to give unsolicited advice.

  • @Gigi44_Bookworm says:

Hi Abbey I have been on antidepressants for five years and I really appreciate how open you are talking about this!
