How I usually handle it is eat NOTHING… thank you for this video. I needed to hear it. I deserve to eat, holiday meal or not ❤
Yup. It fails every time. Always end up ” picking ” at a cookie, handful of candy, chips, salsa. Added calories we don’t need when we could have just eaten a protein-packed breakfast, maybe at 9 or 10, some coffee and maybe a light snack for lunch, like tuna , guacamole and crackers. Much more satiating until dinner.
What’s wrong with eating cookies and chips at a holiday event? It’s not like it’s an all day/everyday occurrence…
She’s not saying that you should NOT eat those foods. She’s saying that when your eating disordered brain makes you feel that you should starve yourself all day in preparation for them, then you are setting yourself up to overeat/feel ill. So the message is to go ahead and eat normally and engage with the party foods in a fun way, rather than a fearful one.
I’ve started doing this and yes, definitely am not over eating at the parties anymore

I pace my meals to the holiday events. I’m not a person who gets hangry, more likely to become manic, which everyone loves, so I let that happen just for these occasions. All about knowing yourself, I suppose.

It does still depend on hunger levels and timing of meals. If i dont eat until 10 , the smoothie and toast would satisfy my for at least 4 hours, then maybe have a small snack; cheese and crackers

I honestly hate christmas dinner so i eat very large meals for lunch and breakfast, and eat alot of yummy christmas bread and cakes after eating some potatos aka/ the only thing i like about norwegian christmas food, for the holiday feeling. 🥰
i’ve learned to eat before events that way i can actually enjoy myself and pace myself with all the food. I have what I want and don’t feel the need to go overboard from not eating all dat
I just eat whatever I want for Christmas dinner, because the reality of the situation is that a single day of bad eating or being in a surplus isn’t going to undo months or years of progress.
Imagine an event comes around once a year and ya’ll don’t participate because ya’ll are scared of the wrong things. People just aren’t educated, sadly.
Finally someone else that understands. In fact, I purposely don’t eat before a big event so I can eat more. It’s part of the fun. Eating a bunch of food that I wouldn’t otherwise prepare or eat day to day…

I think it’s weird to have a bowl of cottage cheese which is slow digesting so you may not even feel hungry by dinnertime. That’s like making yourself full on purpose. I’d rather leave room for the fun holiday foods and enjoy them to the fullest
This is actually the most honest WIEIAD video she’s done. It’s low calorie and clearly restrictive which is obviously how she’s maintained the same weight since her 20’s. The cottage cheese is so she doesn’t overeat at dinner because god forbid she is forced to eat a meal that isn’t a HCC lol.
@@kittster2785Yep, I figured that as well. Filling up on low calorie high protein foods on purpose so you don’t overeat the high calorie holiday foods, that’s straight outta mypro*na lol
Could you do a video on your channel to help people with ADHD? For me, if I’m on my meds, I have no appetite and if I’m off them, I eat everything in sight. I need ways to approach food in both situations so I’m not over or under eating 🥣
I think because im always cooking on holidays, i end up filling up while im cooking, which ends up being a lot of raw veggies, some cooked meat, and a little taste of everything i make just to check seasoning lol so when serving time comes im usually stuffed and only nibble on a few favorites (stuffing is my favorite and maybe a dessert) but i totally love the advice to not show up starving, it does totally help make better choices so you don’t end up feeling cruddy at the end. Thank you for sharing ❤
As somebody who has lost about 100 pounds – I get very stressed about holiday eating. I have tried the starving yourself thing before a party or dinner and it backfires and I binge worse. I eat normally in the lead up to the meal and allow myself to enjoy what I want. Then back on the bandwagon of watching my calories and making positive food choices .
It’s one day and you should enjoy it without guilt , which I struggle with even so.

One thing I struggled with for years was over eating because the host had massively over catered and I was raised to feel guilty for wasting food 😢I felt obliged to eat even though I didn’t want to because someone else had miscalculated, it’s awful. But then I learned this idea that the food is wasted whether it’s on the inside of you or out which helped with that guilt
