Always love a new Abbey video! I have learned so much from these videos, and lost 67 pounds over the past year- eating sourdough bread almost every day. I❤carbs and Canada! Much love from Texas 🍁.

  • @jskdhwoxbeod says:

I love debunking all these common misconceptions people have. People need education instead of blaming their metabolism for their unhealthy weight whether it be under or over.

  • @charlottelupin1895 says:

You’re a life saver! You helped me fix my relationship with food❤

  • @charlottelupin1895 says:

I actually hate body checking contents lol like if you wanna tell us what you ate, just tell us. If you wanna post and show your body, do that separately

  • @L._._ says:

I’m gaining weight now that I’m working night shift as a nurse 😢 on my days off I’m having trouble falling asleep… I stay up til 2am then wake up at 630am… when I work I work 7pm-730am, then sleep from 930 to 330pm… it’s messing my whole life up 😩

    • @theNihilisticEngineer says:

Can you take some sort of sleep medication, make sure your room is DARK when you sleep and look at a light as soon as you wake up?

    • @L._._ says:

@@theNihilisticEngineerI can sleep during the day fine.. the issue is the days off. I have trouble disengaging to go to bed. Once I’m there it’s not as bad… but I feel wired and stay up watching tv 😢

    • @sara_387 says:

Can also be the reduction in NEAT due to less activity on night shift.
I noticed a marked weight gain when I started ICU nursing, compared to working on a ward, because I was often confined to the one bed space the whole shift.
Can you introduce some sort of stress relief activity, reading, yoga or taking a walk to de-stress after your shift, instead of watching TV which may be inadvertently amping you up, or simply distracting you from feeling sleepy?

    • @euphoria03-kw6rj says:

@@L._._ It sounds like you might have “Revenge bedtime procrastination” which can happen when you feel like you don’t have enough time for the things that actually matter to you during the day. Maybe it would help if you somehow made more time for yourself during the day by doing something like meal prepping. That way, instead of cooking when you come back from work you could do something nice, like a hobby or a fun workout.

  • @elizabethdeal3928 says:

I could never follow her advice realistically. Ive long suspected my bmr is lower than what calculators give me. The last time i lost any significant amount of weight was post-birth. I dropped from 242 to 214 because i was hardly eating anything. Not revolutionary if you count bmi as the marker of a healthy weight since i was still over 40lbs above my max “healthy” weight.

  • @XOXOMAKE says:

    If I ate 2500 to 3000 kcals a day… oh boy 😂

    • @mariejulie1081 says:

I do eat that every day but like Abby mentioned I’m 178cm (whatever that’s in ft), am fairly active (nowhere two hours a day but I walk when I can; still never over 15000/day) and am between 20-30. So it’s not unrealistic for some but your comment seems like this is absolutely out of this world. I loose weight if I don’t eat that much and am unhealthily underweight. However, I eat 90% nutritionally balanced meals bc that’s how u grew up and someone eating only fried foods every day might eat half of the amount (volume wise) and be baffled how I “can eat that much” without gaining weight

    • @XOXOMAKE says:

@@mariejulie1081It is out of this world for *me*. That’s why I said “If I ate…” It’s not a crazy number for sure, but it shouldn’t be generalized ever. I have to stay under 2000 to not gain weight. I have chronic pain so exercising is rare and I have long periods where I’m sedentary. So my daily base of calories burned is very low. Amongst other personal things.

    • @XOXOMAKE says:

@@mariejulie1081it is for me, which is why I said “If I…” These type of advice should never be generalized because not one body is the same nor one’s lifestyle. I have to stay under 2000 to not gain weight because of chronic health issues which make me sedentary for long periods of time. So how much I’m naturally burning every day is low. Plus I’m 169 in height and 31.

    • @Diana-qp2rw says:

Yeah, definitely depends on your lifestyle. I eat that and my body fat percentage is on the lower side of the healthy range (1.7 m btw), but I get in around 15k steps a day, lift heavy weights 4 times a week and run a few miles each week in addition to walking a lot. If I didn’t workout (muscle mass burns more calories) and walk so much, it’d probably be more around 2,000, which is relatively average for what most women need, I think.

  • @tiafenn says:

I would love to see a video on the difference between RMR and BMR and how to use that to figure out one’s maintenance and deficit thresholds. I did an RMR test at the place where I get DEXA scans but body comp scales use BMR. I know the scales aren’t as accurate and have no idea how it can figure out your basal metabolic rate 🤷🏽‍♀️

  • @laurenschuster2963 says:

Can you please do a video covering Dr Stacy Sims recommendations for women to eat before exercise? I’ve been experimenting with this myself and found it really helpful, would love to know your take on this too.

  • @audreybringgold6217 says:

the script for the video Abbey is reviewing feels like it was written by AI.

  • @XOXOMAKE says:

Also the sleep advice is so real. Sleepless nights during finals… made me so hungry. And I gained weight.

    • @ababy6074 says:

Well sleeping actuaLREVENTS hunger and weight gain, and if you’re in an exam period, then why don’t you spend more time studying during the semester so you don’t have to cram before an exam? Then you can get a GOOD sleep before your exam, feel refreshed and not gain extra weight.

  • @arissalani says:

After a sleepless night I could snack the whole day. Always feels like my body wants to compensate the missing energy from the sleep with sugar and fat

  • @Rechtauch says:

We are looking to save energy everywhere but in our bodies. A high metabolism is less efficient because it requires more energy to operate.
