Thank you for this video, I sent it to my daughter who is struggling with her 12 soon-to-be 13-year-old daughter, who is a little overweight. And itβs hard to walk that fine line of trying not to make them have some sort of eating disorder, but keeping them healthy at the same time. So I appreciate this then I appreciate any future videos that you share about the subject because I think it will help a lot of people.
I understand you I just bought my grand kids a enclosed outdoor trampoline they love it and jumping there way to health they are young 7 yr Michael and 5 yr Marianna and my Marianna can eat lol she joes to gymnastics as well but I always worry about being overweight as I struggled my whole life π»π»π»

Daniel is skinny like his father. He tends to gain in height before width. He loves rice and sinigang (Filipino sour soup). Most Filipino people are skinny so their traditional diet in likely healthy. I have no negative reaction to Filipino or Korean food. I do have a negative reaction to American food. I spent 10 days with my relatives in the Philippines in 2019. No food on the Asian flights or I ate there bothered me. When I returned and ate what we normally eat my stomach got upset. Actually here they use tablets for school work so Daniel is on it most of the school day. It’s helpful to notice what holds their interest the longest. Those are their hobbies or passion. Daniel’s are art, video games, and playing musical instruments. He tends to break musical instruments so we stick to digital ones. Mine are reading books, playing video games, working on my dream journal, and swinging kettlebells. We also like go for walks/hikes and exploring places.
I can tell you from experience that whether your child is skinny or not they should be eating the same healthy food. I was super skinny my whole childhood and lived in junk food but when I turned 25 everything changed and Iβm still trying to relearn how to eat correctly 15 years later. Start with the habits you want to continue with.

Iβve been overweight prob almost my whole life but up and down up and down Iβm finally thinner at 65 yrs old but almost a year ago I found out I have type 2 diabetes I freaked out they put me on metformin and thatβs when I lost remainder of my weight . Where Iβm at now is I really need to buckle down I want off metformin I want off of cholesterol meds so today is the first day Iβm doing it for my health not to lose weight bye bye sugar bye bye carbs hello veggies hello protein hello fruits hello walking hello exercise I always worried about my kids being overweight my son in middle school was β husky β now heβs 5.8 at 165 heβs 46 and my daughter is 44 5β1 at 120 they grew up doing mousisize Richard Simmons and Jane Fonda π»π»π»
I look back at my childhood with regret due to weight. I was never obese, definitely overweight, but it never stopped me from being super active. A few kids picked on me, but nothing that included horrible bullying. I can look back and see the huge mistakes I made but didnβt understand them at the time. A lot of it was the food my parents kept in the house and still keep in the house to this day. They would use excuses like how they had control around that food; as a once in a while option; when you donβt know what to eat/last minute grab option. I would secretly binge those foods when left alone and wouldnβt be surprised if they did too. Since losing a lot of weight, I can see how those foods hurt me physically and mentally. I tried to talk to my family about the foods they consume affecting their health but everyone treats it as a sensitive topic. When I visit, I always suggest super healthy, but flavorful options for family meals, always leaving the leftovers and encouraging them to enjoy them for their next meal. Baby steps!
Teaching your child good eating habits now will help her make good choices as an adult. My son weighed in excess of 600 pounds. He died at 30 in 2020 from morbid obesity and cardiac failure. When he was a child I would feed him healthy foods and we walked, but when I went to work his dad and grandma would show him love by feeding him till he vomited.
